Success can come even without a BOOK or a COACHING CENTER - Naveen Kumar

Hi Guys, I am Naveenkumar from Tamil Nadu, working as a software Engineer in an MNC. Though I earn a good salary here, yet I chose banking. Not because its a government job, not because its a job with high job security, but because its a job where I can serve my own people of my own country. In this hi-tech, modern, competitive world where every Software engineer thinks only about his own luxurious life, where every software engineer chose IT only in a view to earn more and settle soon, I am glad that at last I chose a career which can provide me a job satisfaction along with a good work life balance than those high earning hard-hearted IT people.

First of all I am very happy to say that now I have a government job in my hand, let it be a  clerk or PO that doesn’t bother me, as I have an in built self-belief that I will be in such a great position within my organization sooner or later. The highlight of my selection is that I haven't went to a coaching class or I haven't bought a single book for my preparations(believe me or not but that’s the truth). Only books that I had was RS AGGARWAL's(Reasoning and numerical ability) books which I bought during my college.

Now let me share my experience on how I cleared these IBPS exams. Don't know whether I am correct but hope this will help a few guys..

1. Set your time for all sections on the previous day of your EXAM!!
My time target: Time will be starting from 120.00 and will be decreasing till 0.00, so I set the time limit as follows
                1. Reasoning    :     120-85min
                2. Numerical    :     85-55min
                3. English         :     55-30
                4. GA                :     30-15
                5. Computers    :     15-05
                6. 05-00 randomly answered few in all sections

2. Whatever happens do not spend the time more than what u set as target.

3. No matter even if u know answer for all 40. Just skip the section once the time which u set has expired.

4. No matter on how many questions u have attempted in the target time u have set, just skip to the next section once the time limit expires... may it be 15 0r 30 not an issue, because if u feel the questions are very tough then it is tough for all others too.

5. The final thing is important. Answer a question only if u get 100% correct answer.. No guesses even for god’s sake.

6. Practice previous year question models and select the easy model types and practice it repeatedly.

Having followed this I attended 7 exams till date and almost cleared all except one.
  1. SBI Clerk 2012 - Cleared
  2. Federal Bank clerk - Cleared
  3. IBPS Clerk 2012 - Cleared
  4. IBPS RRB 2013 - Cleared
  5. IBPS CLERK 2013 - Cleared
  6. IBPS PO 2013 - Cleared
  7. SBI PO 2013 - Not Cleared
And almost selected in many interviews too . But only now I have decided to join Bank and I have offers in "Bank of INDIA" and my state RRB (Pallavan Grama Bank). I am yet to choose the best one.

So what I would like to say is, Coaching doesn't make one clear his exam, Books doesn't make one clear his exam, Its his will and hard work that makes him powerful. You don’t want to be a book worm, you don’t want to be a internet surfer, but you should be the one who believes in yourself, be the one who works hard, be the one who believes in accuracy(which is the most needed one for IBPS exams). Answering 100+ Questions with 95 - 100% accuracy is far far better than answering 150 + Questions with 60-70 % accuracy.

Experience + Failure will make u a perfect winner. So failure must be taken as an experience and not as a hurdle for your success. I don't believe in telling so and so dialogues like this. So what I want to tell u guys is, go set your goal right now, plan accordingly, practice accordingly, WIN accordingly !!!
  1. Prefer combined study with your friends. Share as much as you guys can.
  2. Prefer sites like GR8AMBITIONZ for developing your General and Banking Awareness !!!Practice Aptitude & Reasoning sections with previous year question papers.
  3. Read Newspapers and watch English movies(with subtitles) to develop your English knowledge .
  4. If u are not from a computer Science background, then get some MCQ books (any) for this section alone.
About me :

  16. Its True what he says. There is a lot of quality material available online. Why bother buying these books and waste your money. I rely mainly on solving previous years question papers. It effective and enough to land you a IBPS po or clerical job. All that is required is effort. Nothing comes easy. And Self belief also.
