Friends, as you know the State Bank of India has announced notification for the recruitment of Specialist Officers 2014 for SBI and its Associates. There are 393 posts in total (SBI 313 Posts, SBH 31 Posts, SBM 11 Posts, SBP 15 Posts and SBT 23 Posts). Many of our friends have been wondering about the pattern and other details of this exam. So here, we are giving you the detailed analysis of the Exam.

Why should I write this exam ?

Well, this is the first question which will comes to your mind when you see the notification of SBI Specialist Officers 2014. Experience required for almost all of the posts. So, why should you apply for these posts if you already have a job ? Good question... right? Well, we have some good reasons too. Those are ....Good Salary and Job Security. You can get Rs. 30,000/- to 75,000/- depending on your job profile, experience and ofcourse the life will be good if you are working in India's top nationalized bank instead of some XYZ software company.

The SBI is going to recruit Specialist Officers based on the Online Exam which is going to be held on 19th April 2014. If you already have written any of those IBPS Online exams, then it will be a fetching point for you, as the process will be almost similar to those exams. The Exam Pattern :

You can divide the SBI Specialist Officers Exam into two parts.

Part I : There will be 120 questions of 120 marks. An Important Point to keep in  your mind is, these marks are of qualifying purpose only... These marks won't be considered while calculating your merit. I mean, assume that the cutoff marks for Reasoning section is 9. So they will check whether you get the marks about 9 or not. It doesn't make any difference to the person who got 11 marks and the person who get 50 out of 50 marks. According to SBI both are same. So stop wasting time on these sections, no matter how good you may be in apti, reasoning and English sections.

Part II : Professional Knowledge section. This is the fate changer. Here you will get 50 questions of 100 marks. They will consider these marks in deciding your merit. This is the crucial section for us. We can say, this is the heart of the specialist officers exam. To be eligible for being short-listed for interview, you have to score really good marks in this section, besides scoring equal to or above the minimum qualifying marks in other tests.

Final selection will be made by SBI based on the marks in Professional Knowledge section and Interviews. It will make a merit lit according to these marks and pick candidates from this list.

What if two people got same marks ?

In such cases the State Bank of India will consider the ages of candidates will make the merit list according to it. Preference will be given to the older person.

I am a fresher. Am I eligible for the Asstt Manager (Systems) Post ?

Well, as far as the notification is concerned, you are eligible we must say. Because they used the word 'desirable'. (remember, in any application form, if you see the word "required",then you must possess the specific quality / qualification mentioned in the notification, if you see the word "desired / desirable" that means the specific quality / qualification is not mandatory. But it would be nice if you have it). Now lets come back to our point, you are eligible.. but don't apply if you have any serious money problems or if you are in a Do or Die situation. Because, a number of experienced candidates too will apply for these posts. you really have to "outperform" those experienced candidates to get the job. You better give it a try if you already have appeared for IBPS IT Officers exam. Otherwise, think again...
