• Seeking to spur foreign investments, Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said the Union Cabinet will decide on raising FDI caps in different sectors in the third week of this month.
• In a landmark journey into a new era of space application, India today successfully launched its first dedicated navigation satellite using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle which blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
• Animal welfare organisations in Goa are coming together for 'Mission Rabies', an all India mass canine vaccination drive scheduled to be begin in the coastal state from September 1 onwards.
• The Supreme Court expressed concern over the sale of adulterated milk in the country, saying it is a serious issue and action needs to be taken by the state governments to curb it. "It is a very serious issue. There is no doubt that it is happening all over the country. What action is being taken by the government?" a bench of justices K S Radhakrishnan and Pinaki Chandra Ghose asked.

• India's ONGC has lost the giant Kashagan oilfield to the Chinese after Kazakhstan blocked its $5 billion deal to buy US energy major ConocoPhillips' stake in the Caspian Sea oilfield.
• The proposed ordinance on food security is likely to be taken up again at a meeting of the Union Cabinet tomorrow, when it will consider whether to go ahead with promulgating it or convene a special session of Parliament for its passage.

• Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray edged closer to an epic Wimbledon final showdown on Monday while Poland played Grand Slam gatecrashers by guaranteeing at least a semi-final spot.
