International Affairs
  • The head of the UN atomic agency warned Monday against complacency in preventing "nuclear terrorism", saying progress in recent years should not lull the world into a false sense of security. Much has been achieved in the past decade," Yukiya Amano of the IAEA told a gathering of some 1,200 delegates from around 110 states including 35 ministers in Vienna to review progress on the issue.

  • The Centre is keen on taking a decision on the Telangana statehood issue at the earliest by trying to evolve a consensus, Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan said today.

  • Sabine Lisicki ended Serena Williams' reign as Wimbledon champion as the German 23rd seed clinched a stunning 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 victory over the world number one in the fourth round on Monday.
  • Chinese sixth seed Li Na raced into the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-0 demolition of Italian 11th seed Roberta Vinci on Monday.
