INTERNATIONAL EVENTS

  • US President Obama visited Moore, Okla., on Sunday, about a week after the town was destroyed by a monstrous EF5 tornado that left 24 people dead.
  • An Airbus A319 carrying Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas landed safely in Moscow after pilots found a crack in the cockpit outer window while in the air, the Czech News Agency reported.
  • Protocol 15 to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR) has been adopted.
  • Syria’s foreign minister has said that his government will take part in a peace conference in Geneva, terming it a “good opportunity for a political solution” to the civil war in Syria.
  • Though it is still too early to tell who fired them, two rockets have hit the southern suburbs of Beirut. Additionally, a rocket was fired from south Lebanon towards Israel according to Lebanese security sources; this incident is also being investigated.

  • Network-marketing firm Amway's India chairman and CEO William S Pinckney and two company directors were arrested in Kozhikode on Monday on charges of financial irregularities.

  • With the latest order of Supreme Court, YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy can not apply for bail till CBI completes its investigation in disproportionate asset (DA) case. Fighting for his freedom, the star of the party completed one year in Chanchalguda jail in hyderabad.
  • The Supreme Court today expressed reservation over interfering in the four-year undergraduate programme with multiple degrees introduced by the Delhi University but said that it would pass direction to ensure that all facilities are provided to visually challenged students.
  • Lawyers today abstained from appearing in the Delhi High Court protesting against a recent decision to hike the pecuniary jurisdiction of the high court from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.
  • Flaying the BJP government in Chhattisgarh for Naxal attack on Congress convoy, in which 27 people were killed, party leaders here demanded imposition of President's rule in the Maoist-hit state.
  • A government panel has proposed tax holidays for information technology parks in five backward regions like Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Northeast and Jammu and Kashmir.

  • To curb the menace of unsolicited business calls, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to disconnect the unauthorised telemarketers immediately and blacklist them for two years, an official document has said.
  • Major Chinese industrial firms saw their combined profits rise 9.3 percent year on year in April, slowing from the 12.1-percent rate seen during the first quarter, official data showed Monday.
  • Mother Dairy today announced an increase of up to Rs 3 per litre in milk prices in Delhi-NCR region from tomorrow, citing rise in input costs.

SPORTS

  • Indian cricket board president N Srinivasan, facing calls for his ouster in the wake of the arrest of his son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings chief executive officer Gurunath Meiyappan in the spot fixing scandal, was booed by the crowd at the Eden Gardens after the Indian Premier League final Sunday.
  • Three people arrested for cricket betting in Kolkata during IPL final.

  1. hello..you r really doing a fantastic work.i have a small suggestion to u that is u r providing the monthly current affairs in pdf file that is really good and thank u but if the bits are in objective type it will be easy for reading rather than in paragraphs.hope u will upload the monthly current affairs in pdf file in objective type bits..thank you..

    1. Personally we believe that it will be more easier for people to prepare theory rather than bits Friend. Because there will be links among one topic to another. Anyways, we will consider your request and will try to upload Objective Type questions too in pdf format. Thank you so much for the suggestion :)
