Hello everyone, in our Lesson 33, we learnt about the prefix HypoHypo represent the meanings under; below; normalToday we shall see the prefixes in, il, im, ir. Happy Reading :)

Day 34 : In, Il, Im,Ir

  • in; il; im; ir - not
Let's try to understand this with some examples
  • invisible (adjective) = cannot be seen
    • in - Prefix = not
    • vis (videre) - Root = to see
    • ible - Suffix = can be
  • impossible (adjective) = that cannot be done
    • im - Prefix = not
    • poss (posse) - Root = be able
    • ible - Suffix = can be
Let's have a look at some more words with in, il, im and ir prefixes, for better understanding
  • immobile = not moving
  • immoderate = not reasonable
  • illegal = not allowed by the law
  • irreligious = without any religious belief
  • imperfect = not perfect or complete
  • implacable = that cannot be changed
  • irrelevant = not connected with or relevant to something
  • inadequate = not good enough or too low in quality
  • incomplete = not having all the necessary or appropriate parts
  • irresponsible = not showing a proper sense of responsibility

    Try to guess the meanings of the following elements.

    4. -dynamo

    d. people
