Goa Chief Minister and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar Passes Away

Goa Chief Minister and Former Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar (63) had passes away at Panaji today. He had been battling life threatening  Pancreatic Cancer for more than a year.

Mr Parrikar's health had been fluctuating for several days and worsened yesterday's morning. The former Defence Minister had been in and out of hospital in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi and New York since February last year. After coming back from New York, Parrikar, was seen wearing medical paraphernalia -a nasogastric tube. The 3-time chief minister had said in January that he "will serve Goa till my last breath."

Mr Parrikar was the Defence Minister in 2016 when India conducted a surgical strike on terror launch pads across the Line of Control days after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri. Parrikar proposed the name of Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate before the 2013 BJP parliamentary elections convention in Goa.

Political leaders across the country have condoled Mr. Parrikar's death.
