  • Cosmetic repair - a repair that only affect the appearance of something instead of its basic structure
  • Creditor - a person or company that is owed money by another person or company
  • Tricky - difficult to deal with
  • Hurdle - one of several problems that you must solve before you can do something successfully
  • Inter-creditor agreement - an agreement between two creditors agreeing in advance how their competing interests in their common borrower will be dealt with
  • Balance sheet - a statement that shows the value of a company's assets (= things of positive value) and its debts
  • Majority - most of the people or things in a group
  • Consortium - a group of companies or people with similar interests or aims who have agreed to work together
  • Override - to use official authority to ignore or change a decision that someone else made
  • Dissent - to express strong disagreement, especially with what people in authority think or with what most people think
  • Minority - a small number of people or things that are part of a larger group but different in some way from most of the group
  • Short-changed - disappointed because you did not get everything that you expected or deserved
  • Premium - an amount of money paid in addition to the usual amount
  • Address - to give attention to or deal with a matter or problem
  • Panel - a group of people who make decisions or judgments
  • Holdout - to continue to be enough or continue to exist
  • Objection - a statement that shows that you disagree with a plan, or a reason for your disagreement
  • Persuade - to make someone agree to do something by giving them reasons why they should
  • Embark on - to start a new project or activity, usually one that will be difficult and will take time
  • Solely - involving nothing except the person or thing mentioned
  • Forum - an organized event or meeting at which people discuss something
  • Consensus - agreement among all the people involved
  • Deadlock - a situation in which neither person or group involved in a disagreement is willing to change their opinions or position
  • Obligation - something that you must do for legal or moral reasons
  • Unintended - not deliberate or planned
  • Consequence - a result or effect of something
  • Compel - to force someone to do something, or to get something from someone using force
  • Quick-fire - done quickly one after another without pausing
  • Arbitrary - not based on any particular plan, or not done for any particular reason
  • Meanwhile - at the same time
  • Face value - the value or price that is shown on something such as stamps, coins, or paper money
  • Tragically - causing or involving great sadness
  • Bruise - to harm someone’s reputation or confidence
  • Interface - a situation, way, or place where two things come together and affect each other
  • Midfielder - a player who plays in midfield (the middle part of the field in football, hockey, and other games played with a ball)
  • Mainstay - the person or thing that something depends on most in order to continue or be successful
  • Squad - a sports team
  • Attest - to give proof or be evidence that something is true
  • Explosive - likely to create difficulties or to have a dangerous or violent effect
  • Racism - a way of behaving or thinking that shows that you do not like or respect people who belong to races that are different from your own and that you believe your race is better than others
  • Disrespect - the attitude or behaviour of someone who does not respect someone or something
  • Shudder - if you shudder, your body suddenly shakes, for example because you suddenly feel cold or frightened
  • Perceive - to understand or think about something in a particular way
  • Endorsement - an occasion when someone gives official or public support to a particular person or thing
  • Deride - to criticize someone or something by suggesting that they are stupid, unimportant, or useless
  • Autocracy -  a form of government or management in which one person has complete power
  • Rampant - existing, happening, or spreading in an uncontrolled way
  • Violation - an action that is in opposition to a law, agreement, principle etc
  • Brickbat - a severe criticism
  • Compound - to make a problem or difficult situation worse
  • Vitriol - very severe and cruel criticism
  • Legendary - very famous or well known for a long time
  • Skipper - someone who is in charge of a team (captain)
  • Allege - to say that something is true or that someone has done something wrong or illegal, even though this has not been proved
  • Propaganda - information, especially false information, that a government or organization spreads in order to influence people’s opinions and beliefs
  • Episode - an event or set of events that forms part of a longer series but is considered separately
  • Unravel - if a process or project unravels, it begins to fail
  • Crossroads - a point during the development of something when you have to make an important decision about what to do next
  • Forge - to make or produce something, especially with some difficulty
  • Cosmopolitan - showing the influence of many different countries and cultures
  • Retreat - to avoid a dangerous, unpleasant, or embarrassing situation, especially by moving away from it
  • Immigrant - someone who comes to live in a country from another country
  • Practising - active in a particular profession, religion, or way of life
  • Poster boy - a man who epitomizes or represents a specified quality, cause, etc
  • Inclusive - deliberately aiming to involve all types of people
  • Vile - extremely unpleasant
  • Fault lines - a problem that may not be obvious and could cause something to fail
  • Loyalty - support that you always give to someone or something because of your feelings of duty and love towards them
  • Distressing - making you feel extremely unhappy, worried, or upset
  • Unwittingly - in a way that is not conscious or deliberate
  • Controversy - a disagreement, especially about a public policy or a moral issue that a lot of people have strong feelings about
  • Mindful - careful about or conscious of something
  • Tenuous - weak and likely to change
  • Accuse - to say that someone has done something morally wrong, illegal, or unkind
  • Fascism - a political system based on a very powerful leader, state control, and being extremely proud of country and race, and in which political opposition is not allowed
  • Integration - to combine two or more things in order to become more effective
  • Cherished - bringing the pleasure of love or caring about someone or something that is important to you
  • Assimilation -  the process of becoming part of a community or culture
