Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "NEET nostrums"
- Nostrum - an idea for solving a problem, especially an idea that is unlikely to be effective
- Here to stay - if something is here to stay, it will continue to exist for a long time and become accepted as normal
- Uncertainty - the fact that something is not known or has not been decided
- Exemption - permission to ignore something such as a rule, obligation, or payment
- Willy-nilly - in a careless way, without planning
- Aspirant - someone who very much wants to achieve something
- Mandatory - something that is mandatory must be done, or is demanded by law
- Far from - used for saying that the real situation is the opposite of what you mention
- Well-intentioned - trying to help but often making things worse
- Upgrade - to improve the quality of a service or product
- Merely - just; only
- Proponent - someone who publicly supports an idea, policy, plan etc
- Uniformity - the state of being the same as each other or as everything else
- Capitation - a tax or payment in which the same amount of money is paid by each person
- Commercialisation - to develop something so that you can sell it and make a profit
- Diverse - including people from many different cultures or races
- Lavish - large in quantity and expensive or impressive
- Obvious - clear to almost anyone
- Distinct - able to be clearly seen
- Spawn - if one thing spawns something else, it creates it
- Locale - the place where something happens
- Sweatshop - a factory where people work very hard in bad conditions and earn very little money
- Exorbitant - an exorbitant price or amount of money is much more than is reasonable
- Perceive - to understand or think about something in a particular way
- Asymmetry - lack of equality or equivalence between parts or aspects of something
- Intensify - if something intensifies, or if you intensify it, it becomes greater, stronger, or more extreme
- Suicide - the action of deliberately killing yourself
- There’s no escaping the fact that - used for saying that something is definitely true or important, even though you may prefer to think that it is not
- Infrastructure - the set of systems within a place or organization that affect how well it operates

- Waging - to start and to continue a war or a fight
- Salvo - a sudden attack on an opponent
- Zealousness - full of great energy, effort, and enthusiasm, especially in your political or religious ideas
- Consumer - someone who buys and uses goods and services
- Respective - belonging separately to each of two or more people or things previously mentioned
- Ally - a country that has agreed officially to give help and support to another one
- Eventually - at the end of a process or period of time in which many things happen
- Regulate - to control an activity, process, or industry officially by using rules
- Significant - very large or noticeable
- Crisis - a time of great disagreement, confusion, or suffering
- Protest - a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval, or opposition
- Protectionism - a system in which a country helps its own industries by putting taxes on foreign goods
- Retaliatory - intended to do something harmful or unpleasant to someone because they have done something harmful or unpleasant to you
- Aptly - in a manner that is appropriate or suitable in the circumstances
- Lose-lose situation - a situation in which there is no chance of success
- Warring - arguing or fighting with each other
- Tit-for-tat - something that you do to harm someone because they have harmed you
- It is high time - used for saying that something should be done soon, because it is already past the time when it should have been done
- Free trade - a system of international trade in which companies do not have to pay high taxes on the goods bought from or sold in other countries
