  • Assertion - to do something to show that you have power
  • Elevation - an increase in the level of something
  • Propriety - behaviour that follows accepted social or moral standards
  • Holding back - to stop something from progressing or developing as it should
  • Collegium - an organization for people who have similar interests or who do similar work
  • In question - if something is in question, there are doubts about it
  • Unanimously - without opposition; with the agreement of all people involved
  • In principle - used for saying that you agree with something as a result of your moral, religious, or political beliefs
  • Reiterate - to repeat something in order to emphasize it or make it very clear to people
  • Bound to - to force to keep a promise
  • Resolution - a formal proposal that is considered by an organization and is usually voted on at a meeting
  • Lay down - to officially establish a rule, or to officially say how something should be done
  • Quash -  to use force or violence to stop the political action taken by a group of people
  • President’s Rule - in India, President's rule refers to suspension of state government and imposition of direct Central Government rule in a state
  • Ought not to (do something) - used when you realize that someone did not do the right thing in the past
  • Puzzling - confusing or difficult to understand or solve
  • Address - to give attention to or deal with a matter or problem
  • Concern - a feeling of worry about something, especially one that a lot of people have about an important issue
  • Objecting - say something to express one's opposition to or disagreement with something
  • Relatively - in comparison with someone or something similar
  • Controversy - a disagreement, especially about a public policy or a moral issue that a lot of people have strong feelings about
  • Sole - being one only; single
  • Peculiar - strange, often in an unpleasant way
  • Expeditiously - with speed and efficiency
  • Onus - if the onus is on someone to do something, it is their responsibility or duty to do it
  • Augur - to be a sign of what may happen in the future
  • Consultative - providing advice, information, or help on a particular subject
  • Admittedly - used for saying that you admit something is true, especially when this makes your main idea weaker
  • Diverse - very different from each other
  • Democracy - the belief in freedom and equality between people, or a system of government based on this belief, in which power is either held by elected representatives or directly by the people themselves:
  • Vitiate - to make something less effective or legally acceptable
  • Intransigence - an unreasonable refusal to change your ideas or behaviour
  • Amid - if something happens amid particular feelings or events, it happens while people have these feelings or while these events are happening
  • Mounting - increasing, especially in a way that makes a situation worse
  • A host of - a large number of something
  • Administrative - relating to the management of a company, organization, or institution
  • Regional - relating to or typical of a particular area of a country or the world
  • Protest - a strong complaint expressing disagreement, disapproval, or opposition
  • Elsewhere - in or to another place or other places
  • Breakdown - a situation in which something has failed or is beginning to fail
  • Acute - very serious or severe
  • In a shambles - something that is very badly organized and that does not operate effectively
  • Flight - the act of running away or of trying to escape from someone or something
  • Refugee - someone who leaves their country, especially during a war or other threatening event
  • Under strain - under pressure
  • Designated - marked, separated, or given a name for a particular purpose
  • Civil war - a war fought between different groups of people within the same country
  • Allied - connected by a political or military agreement
  • Join hands - to work together with another organization, country etc in order to help and support each other
  • Campaign - a series of actions intended to produce political or social change
  • Whip up - to encourage strong emotions or behaviour in people
  • Sectarian - caused by disagreements among people from different religious groups
  • Setback - a problem that delays or that stops progress or makes a situation worse
  • Confessional system - a system of government that is a mix of religion and politics
  • Despite - used for saying that something happens even though something else might have prevented it
  • Clout - the authority to make decisions, or the power to influence events
  • Inability - the fact of not being able to do something
  • Rein in - to control an emotion, activity, or situation to prevent it from becoming too powerful
  • Summon - to officially order someone to come to a place, especially a court of law
  • Resignation - the act of leaving a job permanently
  • Patron - a famous person who supports a person or an organization
  • Fault line - a problem that may not be obvious and could cause something to fail
  • Rival - a person, team, or business that competes with another
  • Agenda - a plan or aim that is kept secret
  • Fracture - to divide an organization or society
