International Current Affairs
  • India and Nepal today agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in key areas of border security, connectivity, trade and agriculture.
    • Note : Nepal's Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli is on a three-day visit to India.
  • President RamNath Kovind reached Malabo in Equatorial Guinea on the 1st leg of his three nation state visit to African countries.
    • He will hold delegation-level talks with his Equatorial Guinean counterpart Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in capital Malabo today.

  • India, South Korea joint anti-piracy, search and rescue exercise ‘Sahyog-Hyeoblyeog 2018’ was recently held at Bay of Bengal off the Chennai coast in Tamil Nadu. 
    • The exercise was conducted between Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Korean Coast Guard (KCG) as part of proposed establishment of MoU between them to improve maritime security in Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
  • Brazil's former President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva surrendered to police. 
    • He was sentenced to 12 years in prison on corruption charges. 
  • The joint military exercise between United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Malaysia titled Desert Tiger V” was recently held. 
    • Aim of this Exercise : To share expertise and to enhance joint military actions in Dubai, UAE.
National Current Affairs
  • The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched Ganga Hariteema Yojana (also known as Ganga Greenery scheme) in 27 districts of the state located on the bank of river Ganga. 
  • Kerala has become the 1st state in the country to issue guidelines for declaring a patient as brain dead
    • According to these guidelines, all hospitals in the state are required to follow a special protocol in order to obtain organs for transplant from the patient. 
  • The Union Government is going to launch GOBARdhan Yojna nationally from Karnal district of Haryana by end of April 2018. 
    • Note : GOBAR is acronym for Galvanising Organic Bio Agro Resources.
  • The University of Hyderabad has announced that it's professor of linguistics has discovered 2 languages which were lying hidden till now. They are,
    • Walmiki Language : This language is spoken in district of Koraput of Odisha and on bordering districts of Andhra Pradesh. 
    • Malhar Language : This language is spoken in a remote and isolated hamlet about 165 km away from Bhubaneswar, Odisha.   
  • An international land, naval and internal homeland security systems exhibition, DefenceExpo India 2018, will be held in Chennai from April 11 to 14.
    • This expo will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 
    • More than 80 countries will showcase their defence prowess during the expo.
  • In a bid to use technology for benefit of farmers, the Tamil Nadu Government launched bi-lingual ‘Uzhavan’ (farmer) mobile application.
    • The app available in Tamil and English language will allow ryots to have access to nine types of services, including details about their crop insurance.
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) switched back to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) model from the Gross Value Added (GVA) methodology to provide its estimate of economic activity in the country. 
    • The switch to GDP is mainly to conform to international standards and global best practices.
  • The Union government has banned imports of hormone oxytocin to stop its misuse in livestock industry, where it causes hormonal imbalances and shortens the lives of milch animals. T
  • India’s largest private sector lender ICICI Bank became 1st Indian bank to go live on SWIFT’s (Society for World Interbank Financial Telecommunication System) Global Payment Innovation (GPI), an improved cross-border payments service.
MOUs & Agreements
  • The Central Government and the Government of Maharashtra have signed US $420 million loan agreement with World Bank for Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture to help small and marginal farmers in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra. 
    • The loan will be provided from World Bank’s International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). 
    • It will have maturity of 24 years and grace period of 6 years.

  • Bollywood Actress Anushka Sharma is going to be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award for her contribution to films as a producer
    • Note : Anushka has already produced three films 'NH10', 'Phillauri' and 'Pari' under her own production house Clean Slate Films.
Sports Current Affairs
  • India bagged 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals on Day 5 of 2018 Commonwealth Games today.
    • Overall medal tally of India Till now

      • 2 Silver 
      • 3 Bronze
  • Indian weightlifter Vikas Thakur lifted a total of 351 kg to win bronze in men's 94 kg event at the Commonwealth Games.
  • India's 16-year-old shooter Manu Bhaker shot a total of 240.9 to set Commonwealth Games record and bag Gold in the women's 10m Air Pistol.
  • Weightlifter Punam Yadav bagged the Gold medal in the women's 69 kg category.
  • Shooter Ravi Kumar clinched a Bronze medal.
  • Boxer Mary Kom assured India of another medal on her debut at the Commonwealth Games after advancing to the semifinals of the women's 48 kg boxing event today.
    • Her win also assured the Indian boxing contingent of its first CWG medal.
