National Current Affairs
  • Rajasthan Diwas is being celebrated today (30th March).
    • This day marks the 69th anniversary of the unification of the erstwhile princely states in the region of Rajputana into the State of Rajasthan. 
    • The state came into being on this day (30th March) in 1949 after unification of 22 princely states.
    • Important Points to Note :

      • Official Language : Hindi
  • Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Harsimrat Kaur Badal has inaugurated Rajasthan’s first mega food park Greentech Mega Food Park Private Ltd at Roopangarh Village in Ajmer district. 
    • The park was set up under Central Government’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana and ‘Make in India’ initiative.
  • Madhya Pradesh has been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for Kadaknath chicken, a black-coloured variety bred in the state's Jhabua district. 
  • India’s longest elevated road Hindon Elevated Road, was inaugurated in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. 
    • This road connects UP Gate to Rajnagar Extension and will make it easier to commute between Delhi and Ghaziabad.
  • The 1st National Conclave on Psychological Trauma, Child Protection, and Mental Illnesses was recently held in New Delhi. 
    • Aim of this Conclave : To provide comprehensive synthesis of research, service provision and clinical practice in addressing psychological trauma and subsequent mental illnesses in Indian children and adolescents
Banking, Business & Economic Affairs
  • Karnataka Bank has informed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) about a fraud amounting to ₹86.47 crore related to extension of fund-based working capital facilities to fraud-accused jeweller Mehul Choksi's Gitanjali Gems.
  • Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) set new rules aimed at improving corporate governance in publicly traded companies. 
    • The board said an individual can serve as a director on the boards of only seven companies by April 2020. 
    • Moreover, the top 500 companies by market value will be required to have separate CEOs, Managing Directors and chairpersons from April 1, 2020.
  • India received its 1st Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) cargo from United States (US) under long-term supply deal.
Science & Technology
  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched communications satellite GSAT-6A from Sriharikota. 
    • The 2,140-kg satellite, with a planned mission life of 10 years, would provide mobile communication to India through multi-beam coverage facility. 
  • The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has authorised Elon Musk-led space exploration startup SpaceX to deploy its proposed system to provide internet services using satellites. 
    • This will allow SpaceX to provide reliable and high-speed broadband service to consumers around the world.
  • China has successfully sent pair of twin Beidou-3MEO satellites – Beidou-30 and Beidou-31 into space as part of its third and final stage of launching  its domestic Beidou (Compass) satellite navigation system.

  • Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was re-elected for a second term today.
    • The former Army chief had first assumed power in 2014 after ousting the country's first freely elected leader Mohamed Morsi.
Sports Current Affairs
  • Amid ball-tampering scandal, Australia’s coach Darren Lehmann announced his resignation from the position today. 
    • The fourth Australia-South Africa Test will be Lehmann's last as head coach.
