International Current Affairs
- The French government has decided to ban students from using mobile phones in primary, junior, and middle schools.
- The ban will come into effect from the start of the next school year in September 2018.
- Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Kairat Umarov, has suggested that the global body adopt an International Diwali Day. The move would "immortalise" Diwali, which reflects the ideas of the UN in good overcoming evil.
- Note : The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in 2014 acknowledging the significance of Diwali.
National Current Affairs
- Rajasthan has become the first state in India to launch free email addresses in Hindi for its residents.
- Aim of this initiative : To ensure maximum participation of people towards e-governance and that maximum facilities are available in the vernacular language.
- The Telangana government has announced the launch a mobile application titled 'Urban Genie'.
- This app will enable citizens of urban areas across the state to find certified technicians and workers.
- Delhi's Special CBI court has held former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda, former Coal Secretary HC Gupta, and former Jharkhand Chief Secretary Ashok Kumar Basu guilty of criminal conspiracy in the ₹1.86 lakh-crore coal scam.
- The Delhi Cabinet has approved a scheme to bear the treatment cost incurred by victims who have suffered motor, acid and fire accidents on Delhi's streets.

- The author of Harry Potter series, JK Rowling was named a 'Companion of Honour' by the UK royals in a ceremony at the Buckingham Palace today.
- She was awarded the honour for her services to literature and philanthropy.

- Mount Hope (3,239-metres) in the British Antarctic Territory has become Britain's highest mountain after satellite data revealed it was 55 metres taller than the 3,184-metre-high Mount Jackson, which was previously believed to be the tallest.

- India is going to host the 3rd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of AIIB at Mumbai on 25th and 26th June 2018.

- The Centre today issued a notification taking back the December 31 deadline for linking bank accounts with the Aadhaar number.

- Billionaire Elon Musk-backed digital payments startup Stripe has launched its private beta version in India.
- The US-based startup has launched the invite-only service with a small group of companies to test the platform and get feedback on its features.
- Note : Founded in 2010, Stripe is currently present in 25 countries.
- The World Bank announced that it will stop financing upstream oil and gas projects after 2019.
- The move is aimed at helping nations meet their targets of curbing greenhouse gas emissions as part of the 2015 Paris climate agreement.
