Hello everyone, in our Lesson 50, we learnt about the prefix Over.  Over represents the meanings too much; completely. Today we shall see the prefix Para Happy Reading :)

Day 51 : Para

Let's try to understand this with some examples

• paragraph (noun) = a section of a composition which completes one topic. 
• para - Prefix = beside
  
• graph (graphein) - Root = write
• parallel (adjective) = lying evenly side by side
• para - Prefix = along side
• allel (allelos) - Root = one another

Let's have a look at some more words with para prefixes, for better understanding.

• Parabiosis - union of two organisms
• Parable - a story told to emphasize a point
• Parablepsy - vision that is abnormal
• Parabola - a plane curve’ shaped like a bowl
• Paracentral - lying near the center
• Parachromaism - color blindness
• Parachronism - an error in chronology; a date set too late
• Paraclete - a helper; comforter; a term applied to the Holy Spirit
• Paracusia - any hearing disorder
• Paradigm - an example
• Paradox - an opinion which seems contradictory
• Paradromic - running parallel
• Paragon - a model of perfection
• Paragraph - a section of a composition which completes one topic
• Parallel - lying evenly side by side; as, parallel lines
• Paralysis - loss of the function of motion
• Parameter - something that decides or limits the way in which something can be done
• Paraphrase - a restatement of a text, giving the meaning in another form
