Hi friends, I am Aindree. In our previous lesson, we have learnt the Introduction of Partnership topic of Aptitude Section along with practice problem. Today we shall see some practice problems with explanations. Happy Reading :)

Note : Before taking this exercise, I request you to read the Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 from below links. Thank you.
Example 25 : In a partnership between Ramya, Sowmya and Kavya, Ramya's capital is Rs. 5000. if her share of a profit of Rs. 800 is Rs. 200 and Kayva's share is Rs. 130, what is Sowmya's capital ?
    1. Rs. 3250
    2. Rs. 6250
    3. Rs. 10250
    4. Rs. 11750
    5. None of these
Solution :
Ramya's profit = 200
Kavya's share = 130
Sowmya's share = 800 - (200+130)  = 470
Ramya get 200 Rs. profit with 5000 Rs. capital
Sowmya get 470 Rs. profit with capital  = (5000/200) x 470 = 11750

Example 26 : Raju and Ramu enter into partnership, investing Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 respectively. Raju was the sleeping partner. At the end of the month, both got Rs. 150 each. What was Ramu's remuneration for his work ?
    1. Rs. 60
    2. Rs. 50
    3. Rs. 40
    4. Rs. 30
    5. None of these
Solution :
Raju, Ramu's investments 3000, 2000
Profit Ratio = 3 : 2
Raju 3 parts = Rs. 150 then ramu has to be get 2 parts = Rs. 100

But he got same as Raju Rs. 150. So he get additional (150-100) = 50 Rs. as remuneration

Example 27 : In a business Sashidhar puts Rs. 5000, Madhukar puts Rs. 8000 and Srikar puts the remaining amount. If after 1 year Shashidhar receives 25% of the profit, the Srikar's capital in the business is
    1. Rs. 6000
    2. Rs. 7000
    3. Rs. 5000
    4. Rs. 6500
    5. None of these
Solution :
Let Srikar's capital 'x'
Sasidhar, Madhukar, Srikar's investment Rs. 5000, Rs. 8000, Rs. x.
After 1 year if Sasidhar got 25% profit remain, two persons get 75% profit
Sasidhar gets 25% profit, with 5000 Rs. investment (Madhukar + Srikar) got 75% profit with capital  = (5000/25) x 75 = 15000

Madhukar + Srikar's capital = 15000

Srikar's capital = 15000 - 8000 = Rs. 7000

Example 28 : Namitha invested a certain sum of money in the business for one year and Shobitha invested Rs. 60,000 for ten months. The profit is divided in the ratio of 4:5. Find Namitha's capital ?
    1. Rs. 60,000
    2. Rs. 50,000
    3. Rs. 40,000
    4. RS. 30,000
    5. None of these
Solution :
Let Namitha investment 'x'
Namitha, Shobhitha investments = x, 60000
Investment period (months) = 12   10
Profit ratio = 12x : 60000 x 10
Given ratio = 4 : 5
Let do equal of ratio's =>   (12x / (60000 x 10) = 4/5

x = (4/5) x ((60000x10) / 12) = 40000

Example 29 : Santhosh, Vivek and Sumanth enter into a partnership with shares in the ratio 7/2 : 4/3 : 6/5. Santhosh increases his share by 50% after 4 moths. At the end of the year, a profit of Rs. 43200 is declared. Vivek's share in the profit is
    1. Rs. 8000
    2. Rs. 10800
    3. Rs. 13250
    4. Rs. 16000
    5. None of these
Solution :
Santosh investment = (7/2) x 4 months + [ (7/2) + (7/2) x (50/100) ] x 8m  = 56

Vivek investment = (4/3) x 12m = 16

Sumanth's investment = (6/5) x 12 m

Their profit ratio = 56 : 16 : (6/5) x 12   = 70 : 20 : 18

Total profit = 108 parts = 43200

Vivek's share = 20 parts

= (43200/108) x 20 = 8000

Example 30 : In a business Bhuvan puts his capital of Rs. 40,000 and Rohan puts Rs. 60,000. Finally they receive Rs. 5000 and Rs. 4000 as their profit. Find the time for which the capital is used.
    1. 2 years
    2. 3 years
    3. 4 years
    4. Cannot be determined
    5. None of these
Solution :
Her tow person's times are different because their capital's ratio, profit's ratio are different. So can't be determined.

Example 31 : Pardhu and Sidhu started a business with their investments in the ratio of 3 : 5. After 4 months Pardhu invested the same amount as before and Sidhu withdrew half of his investment. The ratio of their profits at the end of the year was
    1. 5 : 4
    2. 3 : 7
    3. 3 : 2
    4. 1 : 4
    5. None of these
Solution :
Pardhu, Sindhu investment ratio 3 : 5
Let their investments 3x, 5x
After four months Pardhu investment = 3x + 3x = 6x
Sindhu invests = 5x - (5x/2) = 5x/2
Total investment of Pardhu = 3x x 4 + 6x. 8  = 60x
Total investment of Sindhu  = 5x x 4 +(5x/2). 8  = 40x
Profit ratio = 60x : 40x         =  3 : 2

Example 32 : Naveen and Praveen start a business jointly. Naveen invests Rs. 16000 for 8 months and Praveen remains in the business for 4 months. Out of the total profit Praveen claims 2/7th share. How much money is contributed by Praveen ?
    1. Rs. 10000
    2. Rs. 12800
    3. Rs. 6000
    4. Rs. 8000
    5. None of these
Solution :
Let Praveen's investment 16000, x
Investment perid =  8    4
Profit ratio = 32000 : x
Given ratio = 5/7 : 2/7    => 5:2

Let do equal of ratio's = 32000/x = 5/2

=> x = 12800

Example 33 : The ratio of investments of two partners Madhulika and Sapnika is 7 : 5 and the ratio of their profits is 7 : 10. If Madhulika invested the money for 5 months, find for how much time did Sapnika invest the money ?
    1. 7 months
    2. 10 months
    3. 9 months
    4. 11 months
    5. None of these
Solution :
Let time 'x'
Madhulika, Sapnika's investment ratio = 7 : 5

Investment period = 5x
Profit ratio = 7 x 5 : 5x
7 : x
Given ratio = 7 : 10
Let do equal of ratio's = 7/x : 7/10  =>  x = 10

Example 34: Trinath is a working partner and Amarnath, a sleeping partner in the business. Trinath puts in Rs. 15,000 and Amarnath, Rs. 25000. Trinath receives 10% of the profit for managing the business. The rest being divided in proportion of their capitals. Out of a total profit of Rs. 9600, money received by Trinath is
    1. Rs. 3240
    2. Rs. 3600
    3. Rs. 3800
    4. Rs. 4200
    5. None of these
Solution :
Trinath, Amarnath's investments = 15000, 25000
 Profit ratio = 15000 : 25000  = 3 : 5
Trinath's managing profit = 9600 x (10/100) = 960
Remaining profit = 8 parts = 9600 - 960  = 8640
Trinath's capital profit = 3 parts = (8640/8) x 3 = 3240
Trinath's total profit = managing profit + capital profit

= 960 + 3240 = 4200
