  • Dominance - power and influence over others
  • Allegation - a ​statement, made without giving ​proof, that someone has done something ​wrong or ​illegal
  • Restoration - the ​process of ​returning something to ​its ​earlier good ​condition
  • Semblance - resemblance / similarity
  • Normalcy - the condition of being normal
  • Aloft - in the ​air or in a ​higher ​position
  • Desperately - extremely or very much
  • Exposé - a report in the media that reveals something discreditable
  • Waver - become weaker
  • Peer - a person who is having same abilities as you
  • Indeed - really
  • Significant - important or ​noticeable
  • Merely - just / only
  • Consistent - always ​happening in a ​similar way
  • Surpassed - exceed
  • Ruthless - cruel
  • Ambition - a strong desire to do or achieve something
  • Burn bright - to shine
  • Iteration - the repetition of a process
  • Peerless - unequaled
  • Triumph - a great victory or achievement
  • Transformative -  ​causing a ​major ​change to something

  • Coup - an ​unexpectedly ​successful ​achievement

  • Winning streak - a period of time when you win a lot of games
  • Covetously - having a great desire to get something
  • Legacy - something that is a ​part of ​your ​history

Topic 2 : "Towards a law on euthanasia"

  • Legislation - law
  • Euthanasia - the ​act of ​killing someone who is very ​ill or very ​old so that they do not ​suffer any more
  • Hold back - to not do something (because of fear)
  • Enactment - the process of passing legislation
  • The Hippocratic oath - a ​promise made by ​people when they ​become ​doctors to do everything ​possible to ​help ​their ​patients and to have high ​moral ​standards in ​their ​work
  • Yield - produce or provide
  • Fleeting - short / quick
  • Transient - lasting only for a short time
  • Quest - search for something
  • Terminally ill - people who are suffering with a disease that will result in death within a short time
  • Revival - an improvement in the condition
  • Dignity - the ​importance and ​value that a ​person has (which makes other ​people ​respect them)
  • Vegetative state - alive but ​showing no ​brain ​activity (in coma)
  • Landmark - an ​important ​stage in something's ​development
  • Verdict - an opinion or judgement
  • Humane - ​showing ​kindness, ​care, and ​sympathy towards ​others
  • Interplay - the way in which two or more things have an effect on each other
  • Backing  - help or support
  • Lethal substance - something which is capable of causing death (poison)
  • Authorisation - official ​permission for something to ​happen
  • Persistent - continuing for long time
  • Void - unacceptable (having no ​legal ​authority)
  • Competent - able to do something well
  • Drift - a continuous slow movement from one place to another
  • Prolong - extend the duration of something
  • Conflict - a serious disagreement or argument
  • Comprehensive - complete and ​including everything that is ​necessary
  • Enacted - to put a law into ​action
