- Officially opened by : Michelle Obama (first lady of the US)
- With 6500 athletes and 2000 coaches, representing 165 countries, alongwith 30,000 volunteers and 5,00,000 spectators, ‘2015 Special Olympic World Summer Games’ is largest sports and humanitarian event anywhere in the world. It is also the single largest event in LA since 1984 Olympics.
- INDIAN WINNERS:
- Yash singh from Delhi won FIRST MEDAL for India. He won Bronze medal in 25 m backstroke swimming event. He is suffering from autism.
- Ranveer singh Saini from Delhi won FIRST GOLD for India at GF Golf-Level 2 Alternate Shot Team Play Event. He is also suffering from autism. His partner was Monika Jajoo.
- Prabhroop Singh Sekhon from Lucknow won TWO GOLD for India in Roller Skating (300 m and 500 m). He is son of serving Air Force Officer, group Captain B S Sekhon. He is student of ASHA School in Lucknow Cantt.
- Overall, India got 173 medals (47 gold, 54 silver and 72 bronze)
- India ranked THIRD after USA and China.

- **National Gmaes Mascot Ammu is in Limca book of records for its play ‘India waits for children who play’, featuring Ammu and this play was enacted in 414 schools across Kerala. Limca entry is made for single play in which a mascot comes as the centre character and staged in most number of schools.
