SBI Associates Clerks 2015 General Awareness : Topics and Preparation Plan

Dear SBI Associates Clerks aspirants, as many of you might have already noticed in the Online Exams of SBI Clerks, POs and SBI Associates POs of the year 2014, the the State Bank of India (SBI) has slightly changed the question asking style and difficulty levels of General Awareness section. Earlier the SBI used to ask maximum questions from Current Affairs. Till the year 2012, it used to ask hardly 3 to 5 questions from banking sector and all the remaining questions from Current Affairs. If a candidate is good with the current affairs prior to the six months till the date of exam, he could easily get more than 30 to 35 marks.

But, from the year 2014, the SBI has changed the pattern and has started focusing more on Banking and Financial updates. So we feel, we need a brief overview of this new pattern. Before going into details, Let's try to understand this new pattern with the help of the questions asked in SBI Clerks Online Exams which were held during the months of July and August 2014.

If you observe these Questions, you could see roughly 17 questions from banking awareness, 19 questions from Current Affairs and remaining 4 are from standard GK. Let's have a look at the topic wise marks distribution of these questions.

Topic wise Marks distribution of General Awareness Section in SBI Clerks Online Exam 2014

What to Prepare ?

• Total Marks : 40
• Banking Awareness : 17 Marks (Approx)
• Traditional Banking GK : Approx 10 questions are from Traditional Banking. For this, you have to prepare basic banking history, banking terminology, important dates related to banking, countries currencies, functionalists of  banking related documents like cheques, dds, bill of exchange etc.
• Recent Banking Updates : You will get Approx 7 questions from this area. For this you have to prepare heads of banks, recent commissions & committees, recent updates related to financial organizations like RBI, IMF, NABARD, SEBI and World Bank etc
• Current Affairs : 19 Marks (Approx)
• Science & Technology - 2 Marks
• Sports - 1 Mark
• People in News (New Appointments, Heads, Controversies, Deaths) - 3 Marks
• Awards & Honors - 1 Mark
• Summits & Conferences - 1 Mark
• Regular Current Affairs stuff : 11 Marks
• This includes recent political updates (Political (3 Marks approx), Bilateral issues, National and International affairs, recent Govt schemes etc).
• Traditional GK : 4 Marks (Approx)
• You have to prepare standard GK like Important Days, Countries Capitals, Important Places, Various Govt Projects, Dams & Wild Life Sanctuaries, Census 2011, Major events & Dates etc.

How to Prepare ?

Ofcourse, we may not get the exact number of questions as mentioned above. But, one thing is clear. They will ask approx 50% of the questions (20 marks) from Banking Awareness and remaining 50% are from Current Affairs.

• Current Banking Updates : You can download June to November 2014 Banking awareness updates from here. For December banking updates you can refer to the Banking Awareness section of our December 2014 Current Affairs pdf file.
• Current Affairs and Traditional GK: For regular Current Affairs and GK, you can refer to any of your favorite Current Affairs source or you can get them from below sources

What about Remaining Sections ?

For remaining sections, the pattern and the question asking style was more are less same with the previous years' exams. The only complaint we have received was, the Difficulty Level of Marketing section was a bit higher than previous exams. Remaining all are same.
