United India Insurance Administrative Officers (AO) Online Exam 2014 Syllabus and Preparation Plan

Friends, as you know, the United India Insurance Company Ltd is recruiting 323 Administrative Officers (243 Generalists and 80 Specialists) for which, the organization is going to conduct Online Exam on 28th December 2014. So today, we shall discuss about the pattern, syllabus and preparation strategy for this exam.

Brief Overview of United India Insurance Company AO Exam 2014

In the recruitment notification itself, they've clearly gave the pattern of the exam. For both generalists and specialists, the paper will be of 200 questions and is of 200 marks, which you have to complete in 2 hours. Aptitude, Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language sections are same for both the exams (marks may vary). For Generalists there is Computer Literacy test (questions from basics of computers) but for Specialists instead of Computer Literacy, the questions will be asked from their relevant discipline. Descriptive Test

• This will be similar to the Descriptive Test of SBI PO. You will have to focus on Essay, Precis and Letter writing. You will have to answer two questions. You will have choice.

What to Prepare ?

If you have been preparing for Bank POs and have already appeared for IBPS and SBI PO Exams, then you just have to extend your preparation plan which you have followed for those exams. You can prepare your PO Materials and work with your those Practice tests, because the syllabus of the United India Administrative Officers exam is almost similar to that of Bank POs (including Banking Awareness). The difficulty level of this exam will be little lower than IBPS PO Online Exam.

General Awareness 

• You have to prepare last 5 to 6 months' current affairs updates
• Questions will be based on important events, people, places, awards, sports, deaths etc
• They have clearly mentioned, "with Special Reference to Financial Sector" in the notification. So you can expect maximum questions (atleast 40 - 50%) from Banking and Financial Background. • You can expect 2 - 5 questions from Insurance sector. For this you have to prepare Insurance Sector Basics and Financial Terminology.

Computer Knowledge

• You can expect questions from Basic Computer Parts, MS Office, Shortcut keys, Internet, Networking and recent updates in Computer Sector.

Professional Knowledge

• In this section they will test your knowledge on the area which you have applied for (Finance / Automobile Engineering / Legal). Read the eligibility criteria of the notification once. You will get the basic idea on what they are expecting from you. You can make your preparation accordingly. In simple words, you have to focus on your CORE subjects of Graduation.

Important Points to Note :

1. Don't completely depend on Previous Papers. Because in olden days these organizations used to conduct their own exam (off line). But from last year, the IBPS has took up the responsibilities and started conducting online recruitment tests (similar to IBPS PO). So instead of practicing old papers, work with IBPS / SBI PO practice tests. 
2. As we have mentioned earlier, the difficulty level will be little lower than that of IBPS PO Exam. But that doesn't mean you can easily clear the exam. The vacancies of United India Insurance AO are very low when compared to IBPS or other banking exams. So the cutoffs will be very high. So, inorder to beat these cutoffs, you have to get more than qualifying marks, that means, you have to solve more questions in less time with good accuracy. So practice well.
3. For professional knowledge section, no need to mugup each and every topic you have in your graduation. Having a brief idea on the topic is enough. 
4. Negative Marking will be there. So, NO BLIND GUESSING.
5. Even though the organization didn't mention it, sectional wise cutffos will be there. That means, you have to get qualifying marks in each and every section.
6. This will be a golden opportunity for those people who couldn't make it in IBPS and SBI PO Online Exams. So, don't neglect. 
7. The syllabus and exam pattern of New India Assurance Company's AO exam is also more or less similar to United India Insurance Administrative Officers (AO) exam. So, with this preparation, you can appear for both the exams.
