SBI Clerks Online Exam 2018 Syllabus

Friends, finally  the much awaited recruitment notification of SBI Clerks 2018 is out (check detailed notification from here). The exam will be held in the months of March and April 2018.  As a number of aspirants are confused about the syllabus and preparation strategy, here we are giving you a detailed syllabus of SBI Clerks online exam 2018. Before going into details, let's have a close look at some important points you should keep in mind,

Important Points to note about SBI Clerks Exam 2018 : 
  • SBI has released this clerical notification after two years. So obviously, the competition will be high. 
  • Negative Marking is there. 1/4 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Sectional-wise Cutoff Marks and Aggregate cutoff marks are there. That means, you should get minimum passing marks in each section and should also get the minimum percentage marks (which will be  decided by the SBI later) on aggregate to get the interview call.
  • No need to prepare Banking Awareness. Just prepare last 6 months' current affairs (check the detailed syllabus in General Awareness section below)
 As you might have already observed in the notification, The online objective type test is of 200 marks consists of five sections. Those are,

  1. Quantitative Aptitude
  2. Reasoning Ability
  3. General Awareness
  4. General English
  5. Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge
Each section consists of 40 questions and carries 40 marks. You should solve them in 2 hour and 15 minutes.

Syllabus of SBI Clerks 2018

  • Quantitative Aptitude : This section tests your basic calculation skills. The syllabus of this section is almost similar to that of IBPS Clerks. For this section, you should prepare the following topics,
    • Simplifications (Very Very important for clerical level exam. You will get 15 to 20 questions from this area). This section consists the following topics

  • Reasoning Ability : This section tests your basic logical skills. The syllabus of this section is also almost similar to IBPS Clerical level exam. For this section, you should prepare the following topics,
    • Verbal Reasoning :

      • Word Formation

  • General Awareness : First of all let us make you clear one thing. As we have mentioned above, there is no need to prepare Banking Awareness for SBI exams. You hardly will get 2 to 3 questions on banking. Those questions too from current happenings in banks (Current Rates, Heads, Events etc.,). So don't waste your time by mugging up all the banking awareness material which was provided for IBPS exams. Now lets have a look at the General Awareness syllabus of SBI Clerks exam. You should prepare the following topics,
    • People in news (Deaths, Appointments, Awards, Resignations, Visits, News Makers etc.,)
    • Important Dates
    • Science & Technology
    • Sports
    • Current Events
    • Politics
    • Economy
    • Places in News
    • Sports
    • General and Railway Budget 2018
    • Assembly Elections
  • General English  : This section is also similar to IBPS and SSC Exams. You should prepare the following topics, 
    • Reading Comprehension of basic level
    • Common Errors
    • Sentence Correction
    • Sentence Improvement
    • Fill in the blanks
    • Cloze Test
    • Paragraph Rearrangement
    • Synonyms
    • Antonyms
    • One word Substitution
  • Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge : If you are a graduate (the basic qualification of SBI Clerks) and if you are reading this article in your computer, then you can easily get 15 out of 20 marks from Computer Knowledge section. You can expect questions from basics. For marketing too you can score at least 8 marks by using your common sense. For these two sections, our materials are enough.
