International Affairs
  • US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameroon, after a telephonic conversation, said the significant use of chemical weapons against civilians by Syria's Assad regime would merit a "serious response" from the international community.
National Affairs
  • Concerned over environmental impact of stainless steel pickling industries, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has restrained such units from carrying out any manufacturing activity in the city without consent of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
  •  In the wake of the recent incident of 28 devotees being run over by a train in Khagaria district, the East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to launch an awareness drive to dissuade people from walking on the tracks.

Deaths
  • Odisha's Eminent Indian classical singer and music director, the noted vocalist of Jayadeva's 'Gita Govind', Pandit Raghunath Panigrahi (80)  died of cardiac arrest today.
  • Maldives Foreign Minister, Dr Abdul Samad Abdullah, passes away after brief illness. He is 67 years old.

Science and Technology
  • Four school students of Delhi and Gurgaon have discovered two asteroids which will soon be listed in world's official minor body catalogue maintained by International Astronomical Union (Paris).
  • NASA is making final preparations to launch a small car-sized robotic Moon probe next month in an attempt to answer prevailing questions about the lunar atmosphere.

Sports
  • Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has lifted the women's doubles trophy at the WTA Open along with her new partner Jie Zheng at New Haven. It was her 3rd title of season & 17th overall title.
  • The Indian Olympic Association to hold General Body Meeting to amend its constitution as directed by OC under blueprint prepared for India’s return to Olympic fold.
  • The Indian under-23 team today lifted the ACC Emerging Trophy tournament after thrashing arch-rivals Pakistan by nine wickets in the final. (opener Lokesh Rahul - 93).
  • India managed to retain their third spot among T20 teams while Virat Kohli has held on to his sixth spot in the ICC rankings for Twenty20 batsmen issued in Dubai today.
