  • Former Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu has been conferred with the Ashoka award for his contributions to India-Australia relations.Baillieu, who resigned as the state premier in March, said, "It was a delight to work with the Indian community and India."
  • Sathwik Karnik, a 12-year-old Indian-American boy, has won the prestigious National Geographic Bee contest after getting all five questions right as the children of community members continue to dominate the geography bee and the spelling bee competitions in the US.
  • Turkish restaurant owner kidnapped 11 days ago in Kabul freed in an overnight raid by elite commandos from Afghanistan's intelligence agency.
  • Congress President Sonia Gandhi and India-born PepsiCo Chief Indra Nooyi figure among the top 10 in the global list of most powerful women compiled by Forbes magazine for 2013.Gandhi is ranked ninth while Nooyi is at the 10th place in the global list of World’s 100 most powerful women.
