India Joins 41
Nations In Condemning Syria Killings
India on 1 June joined 41 other countries at united nations
human rights council (UNHRC) in Geneva to vote for a resolution “strongly
condemning” the recent El-houleh incident, which resulted in the death over a
hundred civilians including women and children.
Hosni Mubarak was sentenced to life in prison on 2nd June
for failing to stop the killing of protesters during the uprising that forced
him from power last year .And also given life term for the killings was
Mubarak’s former Interior Minister Habibal-Adly, while six former police
commanders were acquitted.
Malik Suspended From Senate Over Dual Nationality
The supreme court on 4 June suspended interior minister
Rehman Malik from the senate (the upper house of parliament) for failing to
produce the necessary documents to establish
that he had given up his British nationality.
Google’ Buying ‘Meebo’ To Help Social Networking Push
Google is buying silicon valley start-up Meebo to help
expand its social networking service.The acquisition announced on 4 June will
bring more tools to google plus,an alternative to facebook.Google has spent
more than $16billion buying 140 companies since the end of 2009.The biggest
deal in Google’s history of 14 years is buying $12.5 billion cellphone maker
motorola.
1st Intercontinental Solar Flight Takes Off

Nobel Slashes Cash Prize
The prize money given to Nobel laureates is to be cut by a
fifth, the foundation behind the prestigious awards said on 11 June.currently
prize money is 10 million crowns and it would fall to 8 million Swedish crowns
($1.12 million). The Nobel Foundation said the money for the awards, given for
excellence in the fields of science, literature and peace. The capital that
forms the base for the awards was donated in the will of dynamite inventor
Alfred Nobel and is managed by the foundation, which was set up in 1900.
Gandhi Kallenbach Letters Go Under Sothe by Hammer
In one of the most significant auctions of Gandhi
memorabilia,sotheby’s London in going to put honourable of letters,papers,and
photograph which shed light on the life of mahatma, under the hammer on July
10.The archieve comprises five decades of correspondence.much of it previously
unpublished,between gandhiand hermon kallenbach, a german-Jewish body builder
and architect who became Gandhi’s closest friend after they met in Johomnesburg
in 1904.one batch of letters between Gandhi and kallenbach had come up for sale
in 1986 and the Indian government paid $140,000(rs.1.2 crore) for it.The papers
are now with the national Archieves, and were published in Gandhi’s collected
works in 1994.
Pak Taliban Not To Allow Anti-Polio Campaign In N.
Waziristan
Over 16,000 children below the age of five will miss their
polio vaccines in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan due to a ban on
vaccination campaigns by a powerful Taliban commander.Hafiz Gul Bahadur, the
alleged host of the Haqqani network in North Waziristan Agency,militants had
decided to ban the vaccination drive as long as US drone strikes continued in
the region. This ban is because the vaccination campaign was a cover for
American spies. The ban will seriously impact polio eradication efforts in
Pakistan, which is among three countries where polio is still prevalent.
Suu Kyi Accepts Nobel Peace Prize 21 years late
Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi finally accepted
her 1991 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo on 16 June after spending a total of 15
years under house arrest and said full political freedom in her country was
still a long way off.

Supreme Court Of Pakistan Debarred Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raja Gilani From Office
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on 19 June 2012, debarred
Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raja Gilani from his office. The court’s ruling
also disqualified Gilani as the member of the National Assembly, the lower
house of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament). Gilani was convicted for violating
the article 63(1) of the constitution of Pakistan on 26 April 2012 by the
Supreme Court. The court’s verdict came following Gilani’s refusal to probe
cases of corruption against Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.

Pakistan, a country which is run by military obsessed with
