Why do Bank Exams are Important ?

Till the year 2009, almost nobody considered banking sector as a good career option. The main aim of any young aspirant is to complete engineering and to settle in Software field. But after 2009, the equations changed. Due to various consequences, people of IT sector felt insecurity towards their jobs and started eying on Banking sector. So obviously the competition got increased day by day. The banks started filtering candidates in various levels. Initially they used to select personnel based on Exam and Interview. Later they made the exams online followed by interviews. Now banks are conducting these online exams in two pages (Tier I and Tier II).

How do Banks released Notifications about Exams ?

Initially, all nationalized banks used to conduct their own recruitment exams when ever they fell short of employees (say Probationary Officers, Clerks and Attenders etc). But from the year 2011, due to overwhelming response, banks roped in the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to conduct recruitment exams on behalf of them. Now the IBPS is the sole authority to conduct any banking exam in India. Unlike other banks, the State Bank used to conduct their own recruitment tests, but from the year 2014, sbi too asked IBPS to conduct online tests on it's behalf. Yearly you will get around 9 main notifications of banking exams. They are

IBPS POs (Probationary Officers)
IBPS Clerks
IBPS RRB POs
IBPS RRB Clerks
IBPS Specialist Officers
SBI POs
SBI Clerks
RBI Grade B Officers
RBI Assistants

Apart from these, various Local and Private Banks also release recruitment notifications.

Important Point to Note : Unlike IBPS, SBI and RBI are not regular in recruiting candidates. I mean, you can't guarantee that these banks will conduct exams on every year. They will release notifications based on their candidates.
