Hello everyone, in our Lesson 2, we learnt about the prefixes ab, abs.  They represent the meaning away; from; not. Today we shall see few more prefixes. 

Day 3 : Ad, Ac, Af, Ag, Al, An, Ap, Aq, Ar, As, At

ad, ac, af, ag, al, an, ap, aq, ar, as, at - to; toward

Let's try to understand this with some examples....

Word Analysis 
  1. accept (verb) = to receive, to take to oneself
    • ac (ad) - Prefix = to
    • cept (capere) - R = take
  2. aggressive (adjective) = wanting to attack
    • ag (ad) - Prefix = to, toward
    • gress - Root = steep (rising)
    • ive - Suffix = tending to
Let's have a look at some more words with ad, ac, af, ag, al, an, ap, aq, ar, as, at prefixes, for better understanding.
  1. attest = to prove that something is true
  2. affix = to stick or attach something to something else
  3. allocate = to give something officially to somebody
  4. announce = to give information about something in a public place
  5. arrest = to take them away to ask them about a crime that they might have committed
  6. appreciate = to value or admire highly 
  7. adjective = to describe a noun or pronoun
  8. aggregate = to form by adding together several amounts or things
Home Work :

Try to guess the meanings of the following elements.
  1. all-
  2. anti-
  3. circum-
  4. dia-
a. through
b. around
c. against
d. completely

Try to match the above elements with given meanings.  Solve it on your own and
