The Oscar winning legendary figure, an
esteemed director and actor of Hollywood,
Richard Attenborough (29th August 1923 – 24th August 2014)
, died today. He was 90. He is known to the Indian audience for his monumental film '
Gandhi' which was released in the year 1982. He struggled for 20 years to bring the life of Mahatma Gandhi on-screen in the film Gandhi. He won
two Academy Awards (director and producer) for
Gandhi in 1983. In a career that spanned over six decades, he appeared in films including "Brighton Rock", "The Great Escape" and later in the dinosaur blockbuster "Jurassic Park". He was the President of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
