- Parched - (especially of earth or crops) dried out because of too much heat and not enough rain
- Crisis- an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
- Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively
- Acute - very serious or severe
- Implication - a possible effect or result
- Composite - made up of separate parts

- Graft - dishonest or illegal activities in politics or business that involve giving people money or advantages in exchange for their help or support
- Allegation - a statement that someone has done something wrong or illegal even though this has not been proved
- Assertion - a definite statement or claim that something is true
- Perception - a particular way of understanding or thinking about something
- Scepticism - doubts that someone has about something that other people think is true or right
- Intention - a plan in your mind to do something
- Contender - someone who competes with other people for a prize or job
- Former - used for describing someone or something that had a particular job, title, status etc in the past, but not now
- Disenchantment - the feeling of being disappointed and no longer enthusiastic about someone or something
- Rhetoric - a style of speaking or writing that is intended to influence people
- Give someone the benefit of the doubt - to treat someone as if their behaviour is honest or correct, even though you are not certain that it is
- Portfolio - all the responsibilities of a government minister
- Conservative - not willing to accept much change, especially in the traditional values of society
- Technocrat - a scientist or other technical expert with a high position in industry or government
- Affiliation - connection with an organization, especially a political or religious one
- Implication - a possible effect or result
- Outcome - the final result of a process, meeting, activity etc
- Transition - the process of changing from one situation, form, or state to another
- Ballot - the process of voting secretly to choose a candidate in an election or express an opinion about an issue
- Conducive - creating a situation that helps something to happen
