- Fate - what happens to a particular person or thing
- Repercussion - a bad effect that something has, usually lasting for a long time
- Landscape - the main features of a situation or activity
- Due - if something is due to happen, it is expected to happen or should happen
- Verdict - an opinion that you have or a decision that you make
- Pan-Indian - all Indian
- Fillip - something that improves a situation or that encourages someone
- Unrealistic - based on hopes or wishes, and not on what is likely or possible
- Boast - to speak too proudly or happily about what you have done or what you own
- Critical - very important
- Discount - to decide that something or someone is not worth consideration or attention
- Contender - someone who competes with other people
- Perceive - to understand or think about something in a particular way
- Setback - a problem that delays or that stops progress or makes a situation worse
- Mount - to prepare for and begin an activity or event
- Wrest - to get land, power, or possessions from someone, usually by fighting
- Ingest - digest
- Principal - main, or most important
- Majority - more votes than all your opponents together
- Front-runner - the person or thing considered the most likely to win a competition, game, election etc
- Perception - a particular way of understanding or thinking about something
- Fightback - a situation in which you end by defeating an opponent who was winning before
- Consolidation - the action or process of making something stronger or more solid
- Shrewdly - in a way that shows sharp powers of judgement
- Cynically - in a distrustful way that expresses a belief that people are motivated purely by self-interest
- Fanned - to make a feeling or belief stronger
- Linguistic - relating to language
- Pro- supporting or approving of something
- Bogey - something that causes fear among a lot of people, often without reason
- Embroiled - involved in a difficult situation
- Diminished - reduced in amount, size, or importance
- Latent - something that is latent exists but is not obvious and has not developed yet
- Incumbency - an official position
- Tap into something - to manage to use something in a way that brings good results
- Certainty - something that will definitely happen or that you feel very sure about
- King-maker - someone who helps to choose people for important or powerful jobs
- Hung assembly - a situation in which no particular political party has an absolute majority
- Betray - if you betray your beliefs or principles, you do something that does not agree with them
- Insecurity - not confident about yourself
- Face-off - a disagreement or fight between two people or groups
- Opinion poll - an attempt to find out what people in general think about a subject by asking some people questions about it
- Wave - a sudden increase in a particular type of behaviour or activity
- Lynching - if a crowd of people lynch someone who they believe is guilty of a crime, they kill them without a legal trial
- Underlying - underlying causes, facts, ideas etc are the real or basic ones, although they are not obvious or directly stated
- Anxiety - a worried feeling you have because you think something bad might happen
- Drift - a continuous slow movement from one place to another
- Mindless - mindless people do not think about what they are doing
- Violence - actions or words that are intended to hurt people
- Brutality - behaviour that is very cruel or violent and showing no feelings for others, or an act of this type
- Grim - grim news, situations, or events are unpleasant and make you feel upset and worried
- Mob - a large crowd of people that is dangerous or difficult to control
- Wield - to have and be able to use power or influence
- Enforcement - the process of making sure that something happens, especially that people obey a law or rule
- Homeless - people who do not have a place to live, usually because they are poor
- Justified - if you are justified in doing something, you have a good reason for doing it and it is right that you should do it
- Companion - someone who is with you
- Injure - hurt in an accident or attack
- Lure - to persuade someone to do something by making it look very attractive
- Thrash - to hit someone hard several times, especially as a punishment
- Burglar - someone who enters a building illegally in order to steal things
- Instance - an example of something happening
- Severely - very seriously
- Responsiveness - the quality of reacting quickly and positively
- Trigger - to make something happen
- Xenophobic - a strong fear and dislike of people from other countries and cultures
- Subsequently - after something else happened
- Invoke - to use a law or rule in order to achieve something
- Rumour-monger - someone who spreads rumours
- Dissemination - to make something such as information or knowledge available to a lot of people
- Regulation - an official rule that controls the way that things are done
- Fear-mongering - the process of saying or doing something in order to deliberately make people feel worried or frightened, especially so that you can gain an advantage
- Counter-information - information shared as a response and opposition to other information
- Campaign - a series of actions intended to produce political or social change
- Foster - to help something to develop over a period of time
- Amount to something - to be the same as something
- Amorphous - with no clear shape, design, or structure
- Anonymity - a situation in which the name of a person who does something is not known or is kept secret
- Perpetrator - someone who has committed a crime or a violent or harmful act
- Embolden - to give someone more confidence to do something
- Spur - something that encourages someone to do something
- Vile - shocking and morally bad
- Guilt - a feeling of being ashamed and sorry because you have done something wrong
- Disseminate - to make something such as information or knowledge available to a lot of people
