New Chief Justices appointed for 4 High Courts

The Chief Justices of Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand were appointed on today. Further, the government has informed the Parliament that 201 proposals by the collegium for appointment of judges in the high courts are at "various stages of processing". As of March 1, the 24 high courts were working with 642 judges, against the approved strength of 1079. Here is the list of newly appointed chief justices.

Newly Appointed Chief Justices for 4 High Courts :

  • Justice Navniti Prasad, a judge in the Patna High Court has been appointed Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
  • Justice T B Radhakrishnan, acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court has been sent as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
  • Hemant Gupta, current working as the acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, has been made Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court
  • P K Mohanty, acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court has been made 'regular' chief justice there.
