Hello everyone, in our Lesson 58, we learnt about the prefix ProtoProto represents the meanings first; originalToday we shall see the prefix pseudo Happy Reading :)

Day 59 : Pseudo

  • Pseudo - false; not genuine
Let's try to understand this with some examples
  • pseudograph (noun) = a false document
    • pseudo - Prefix = false
    • graph (graphe) - Root = write
  • pseudonym (noun) = a name used by somebody, especially a writer, instead of their real name
    • pseudo - Prefix = false
    • onym (onoma) - Root = name
Let's have a look at some more words with prefixes, for better understanding.
  • Pseudoclassic - pretending to be a classic
  • Pseudodox - a false opinion
  • Pseudographize - write or print incorrectly
  • Pseudogyny - the use of a feminine name by a male author
  • Pseudolatry - false worship
  • Pseudological - falsified
  • Pseudologist - a liar
  • Pseudology - the art of lying
  • Pseudomania - a mania for making false statements; also exaggerations
  • Pseudomorph - an irregular or deceptive form
  • Pseudonym - a name adopted by an author for his writings; a pen name
  • Pseudonymal - relating to a pen name
  • Pseudonymity - the use of a pen name by an author
  • Pseudonymous - using a fictitious name
  • Pseudopsia - false vision; optical illusion
  • Pseudoptics - the branch of psychology which treats optical illusions
  • Pseudosim - a tendency to that which is false
  • Pseudosmia - afalse sense of smell
