The World Bank has today appointed Bangladeshi national Junaid Ahmad as its Country Director for India. He is going to replace Onno Ruhl, who served a four-year term based out of the national capital.
Ahmad was previously the Chief of Staff to World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. Junaid’s experience in areas like urbanisation and social development will ensure that the bank's strategy in India corresponds with the country's development goals, officials said.  Ahmad holds a PhD in Applied Economics from Stanford University, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, and a BA in Economics from Brown University.
