Friends, here are the solutions for our Numerical Ability Practice Test. Please take the test from here before reading these solutions.

Set 1

1. 7(2/3) - (5/6) of (8/15) = ?

=> (23/3) - (5/6) x (8/15) = 7(2/9)

3. (? / 1568) = (242 / ?)

=> ?2 = 1568 x 242
=> ?2 = 784 x 484
=> ?2 = 28 x 22 = 616

4. (14 x √?) / 48 = 56/3

=>  √? = (56 x 48) / (14 x 3) = 64

=> ? = 642 =  4096

5. ?% of 584 = 43.8 x 8

=> (? / 100) x 584 = 350.4

=> ? = (350.4 x 100) / 584 = 60

Set 2

1.
94.98% of 1299.96 - 12.49% of 1839.97 = ?

=> 95% of 1300 - 12.5% of 1840

=> 1235 - 230 = 1005

2.
898.254 / 149.568 + 19.093

=> 900 / 150 + 19 = 25

Set 3

1.
6 x 0.5 = 3
3 x 1.5 = 4.5
4.5 x 2.5 = 11.25
11.25 x 3.5 = 39.375
39.375 x 4.5 = 177.1875

2.
152 - 7 = 218
142 - 6 = 190
132 - 5 = 164

3.
2185 - 4 % 3 = 727
727 - 4 % 3 = 241
241 - 4% 3 = 79
79 - 4%3 = 25
25 - 4%3 = 7

Set 4

1.
Distance = 350 + 175 =525 m
Speed = 180 - 36 = 72 kmph (Q overtaking is same direction)
= 72 x (5/18) = 20 mps

=> Time = 525 m / 20 mps = 26.25 sec

2.
Let the distance between A and B be "X" km

=> (X / (10 - 2)) + (X / (10+2)) = 15

=> X = 72 km

3.
Work done by 16 men in 16 days = 1

=> Work done by 16 men in 4 days = 4/16 = 1/4

Remaining work = 1 - (1/4) = 3/4

Total number of men now = 16 + 8 = 24

=> 16 men do 1 work in 16 days

24 men do 3/4 work in = (16 x 16 x 3) / (24 x 4) = 8 days

Shortcut :
Total man days required for the work = 16 x 16 = 256

Number of man days completed in 4 days = 4 x 16 = 64

Remaining man days = 256 - 64 = 192

Number of men available = 16 + 8 = 24

Number of days required = 192 / 24 = 8

4.
(7/8) . (3/7) .  X = (25/100) . (45/100) . Y

X/Y =  3/10

5.
Difference = (P x R2) / 1002

=> (75000 x 25) / 10000 = Rs. 187.50

6.
Correct average = (20 x 28 - 72 + 87) / 20

= 28.75

7.
Let the number be X

X = 136k + 71

=> 17 x 8k + 71 x 4 + 3

=> 17 (8k + 4) + 3

=> when divided by 17, the remainder will be 3

Shortcut : Divide the remainder 71 by 17 then the remainder is the answer

8.
Length of the plot = 32 m

Breadth of the plot = 16 m

Area of the rectangular plot = 32 m x 16 m

= 512 sq. m

Length of outside rectangle = 32 + 1 + 1 = 34 m

Breadth of outside rectangle = 16 + 1 + 1 = 18 m

Area of outside rectangle = 34 m x 18 m

= 612 sq. m

Area of footpath = 612 - 512 = 100 sq. m

= 100 x 100 x 100 sq. cm

Area of the square tile = 20 cm x 20 cm

=> The number of tiles = (100 x 100 x 100) / (20 x 20)

= 2500

9.
To get least number of tins, the size of the tin should be maximum
The maximum size of the tin is the HCF of 153, 238 and 306 i.e., 17

=> The required number of tins = (153 + 238 + 306) / 17 = 697 / 17 = 41

10.
Computer A takes 4 min to process one input

In one hour it can process 60 / 4 = 15 inputs

B takes 6 min, and in one hour 60 / 6 = 10 inputs

A, B and C can process 37 inputs in one hour

=> C takes, 37 - (15 + 10)

= 12 inputs in one hour

For one input it takes (60 / 12) = 5 mins

For 5 inputs it can take 5 x 5 = 25 min
