National Affairs
  • President Pranab Mukherjee today left on a five-day visit to Norway and Finland during which a number of agreements, including on education and trade, will be signed.
  • The very severe Cyclone Hudhud blasted India's eastern seaboard today with gusts of up to 195 kilometres an hour (over 120 mph), uprooting trees, damaging buildings and killing at least three people despite a major evacuation effort.
  • This has hit the Visakhapatnam coast in Andhra Pradesh this morning.
  • Lakhs of people evacuated from towns and villages through which the cyclone pass amid massive rain and wind.
