International Affairs
  • To mark World Population Day (11th July 2014), UNFPA, the UN’s population fund, has called for investments in support of the largest-ever generation of young people. Rapid population growth means that there are now around 1.8 billion people aged between 10 and 24 – roughly a quarter of the world’s population.
  • The US is prepared to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza, President Barack Obama has said today.
  • President Barack Obama today formally invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the US in September. Modi to meet Obama on 30th September 2014.
National Affairs
  • Delhi has become the world's second most populous city in 2014 after Tokyo, more than doubling its population since 1990 to 25 million, according to a UN report.
  • Former Mizoram Governor Vakkom B Purushothaman, who was transferred to Nagaland by the NDA government, has resigned from the post today.
  • Ignoring objections by political parties, the government today introduced a bill in Lok Sabha to clear legal hurdles in appointment of former TRAI chairman Nripendra Misra who joined as principal secretary to PM more than a month back.
  • An Indian Institute of Management (IIM), which was proposed for Punjab in the Union budget presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, would be set up in Amritsar, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.
  • Government is not considering any proposal to discontinue the Aadhaar project under which biometrics details of residents are collected to generate unique identification number, Parliament was informed today.
  • The Lok Sabha today passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill 2014 amid protests from members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and others.
  • In a bid to ensure availability of doctors in rural areas, government today said that it is mulling sending medical students pursuing post-graduation courses on village posting and has identified 184 districts in 18 states to push for medical facilities.
  • The Assam government will set up an inquiry committee to find out the alleged nexus between officials of different government agencies and encroachers in the state capital.
Science & Technology
  • India's first fully indigenously built major warship, the anti submarine warfare (ASW) corvette INS Kamorta will be handed over to the navy by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) Kolkata tomorrow.

  1. once i had filled the exam twice and got the admit card for both registration but appeared for one.........so dont think there will be a problem but contact to sidbi help line number may be there will be a provision for correction...
