1. What is the difference between the total marks obtained by A in Psychology and Statistics together and the total marks obtained by F in these two subjects together ?
Solution :
Marks obtained by A :
In Psychology = 150 x (72/100) = 108
In Statistics = 88 x (125/100) = 110
So, total = 108 + 110 = 218
Marks obtained by F
In Psychology = (84x150) / 100 = 126
In Statistics = (82 x 125) / 100 = 102.50
So, Total = 126 + 102.50 = 228.50
So, Required difference = 228.50 - 218 = 10.5
2. What is the average percentage of Marks obtained by six students in Sociology ?
Solution :
Required average = (65 + 58 + 73 + 65 + 55 + 70) / 6
= 386/6 = 193/3
3. What are the average marks obtained by the six students in Philosophy out of 75 ?
Solution :
Marks obtained by :
A = (65 x 75) / 100 = 48.75
B = (70 x 75) / 100 = 52.50
C = (57 x 75) / 100 = 42.75
D = (61 x 75) / 100 = 45.75
E = (76 x 75) / 100 = 57
F = (78 x 75) / 100 = 58.50
So, Required average = (48.75 + 52.50 + 42.75 + 45.75 + 57 + 58.50) / 6
= 305.25 / 6 = 50.875
4. What are the total marks obtained by 'A' in Psychology. Economics and Geology together ?
Solution :
Marks obtained by A :
in Psychology = (72 x 150) / 100 = 108
in Economics = (85 x 80) / 100 = 68
in Geology = (72 x 60) / 100 = 43.2
So, Total = 108 + 68 + 43.2 = 219.2
5. Approximately what is the overall percentage of marks obtained by 'C' in all the subjects together ?
Solution :
We can determine the average of percentage
So, overall percentage = (63 + 73 + 69 + 57 + 68 + 65) / 6
= 395 / 6 = 65.8 = 66%
