A few Tips for IBPS Specialist Officers Aspirants - Abhinav Saha

I'm Abhinav Saha from Kolkata and recently selected as Specialist Officer. The journey through out was full of ups and downs and the only mantra throughout all these years is having extreme patience, dedication and sincerity. All of you who are serious and dedicated towards making a big career out of Banking Industry, just keep pushing yourself each and everyday. I admit that getting a post is a big task but you must realize that you are standing just on the verge and any day God may give you the pass to sail through :)

Well my profile is similar to many of you, I did my +2 in commerce topped in state (i.e. Sikkim), graduated in B.Com (Accounting and Finance) Hons and then finally did PGPBM (Marketing) with MBA (Marketing). My father is a banker and even mother is in BFSI industry, their support was indeed a boon during the preparation days and even throughout my childhood, school days seeing, hearing so much about Banking Industry compelled me to give it a though as my own career and finally, I'm in.

I have given a couple of Banking papers right after my graduation without having much knowledge about the entrance and couldn't get the pass as expected. Serious preparation started in February 2013 and IBPS SO was my first serious attempt. After that I have given RBI Grade B Phase I, RRB PO, IBPS PO RBI Grade B Phase II. I'm working in a private company and prepared at home. Self Study was the key. I used the online test series and read newspaper on a daily basis. E-Paper of The Hindu and then The Business Line was a great support. Blogs like gr8ambitionz is simply brilliant, it allows me to have quick revision through their daily updates plus any banking information regarding notification of vacancies or result they are very fast to supply the news. I don;t have to worry about anything. I really thank the entire team for their dedication and they have reached a stage when aspirants can trust and fall back completely for any authentic information.

Now next month we have IBPS SO III, so continuing with the exam season which started with IBPS RRB PO, already a lot of practice has been done. Reasoning, Aptitude and English will be similar to what we faced since RRB PO. Since the test is going to be online, test series which provide online practice is required. Apart from that solve a lot of last year papers. Analyse your strengths as per your marks in mock test, make a plan regarding which questions you are going to attempt, if the paper is as tough as PO III then wasting time in wrong question will be of no use. Though there is no GA in many of the SO fields still don't ignore important banking concepts and rates, last year in Marketing Officer there were no direct question from Marketing all the questions were related to Mutual Fund, Banking, Finance etc. Complete Professional and English as soon as possible and then concentrate on the lengthy sections. Keep your basics clear, the articles posted in gr8ambitionz regarding your field is very good for brushing up, as many working professionals are away from their study for quite some time.

Lastly about interview preparation its an art, you need to prepare well such that right from the first question you get you can drive it. Preparing the cross questions that you may receive from the answer you deliver is very important. Once you give two three correct answers the level of questions will rise. Through preparation about your company, its hare value, owners, turnover is required. If you only prepare Banking Terminologies it may not solve the purpose. Any field you may belong to, any score you may have shouldn't bother you much. If you have given the chance to sit for an interview out of lakhs of candidates than it itself is an achievement. You will learn a lot through out the entire process. Everyone is keeping an eye on you right from document verification. Be polite, keep all your documents in the correct order. have faith in God, keep smiling and have confidence. If you have come this far, you will surely sail through. Its just a matter of having patience.

Regarding any doubt on profile wise preparation or anything else you can surely get in touch with me at "kuhelymax@gmail.com".

  32. For professional knowledge download power points n prepare!!!
For mktg bank assurance is the prime focus I guess I got 100 but cut off was 107 I guess! U focused on clearing individual cut off!
Time management is the key! 30 minutes for each section should be strictly followed! For mktg 10-15 minutes is enough I guess.. best of luck!
