• Scientists have for the first time discovered phosphorous, one of the essential elements for life in the cosmic leftovers from a supernova explosion.
• Emissions of sulphur dioxide — atmospheric pollutant with health and climate impacts — from power plants in India increased by over 60 per cent between 2005 and 2012, new data analysed by a NASA satellite found.
• Researchers from the University of Spain found traces of ancient vineyards that date back 1,000 years, once intensely used to grow grape vines.
