  • Checklist - a list of all the things you need to do or consider
  • Equity - a fair and reasonable way of behaving towards people, so that everyone is treated in the same way
  • Diagnostic - identifying a particular illness using a combination of signs and symptoms
  • Rural - relating to the countryside
  • Frail - physically weak and not very healthy
  • Crisis - an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
  • Spotlight - a situation in which you get a lot of public attention
  • Epidemic - a situation in which a disease spreads very quickly and infects many people
  • Mortality - the number of deaths within a particular area, group etc
  • Chronic - always happening or returning and is very difficult to solve
  • Neighbouring - near each other
  • Apex - the top or highest part of something that ends in a point
  • Dysfunctional - not working normally
  • Aspect - a particular part, feature, or quality of something
  • Evident - easy to see, notice, or understand
  • Comptroller - someone whose job is to look after the financial aspects of an organization
  • Reproductive - relating to the process of having babies
  • Audit - a careful examination of something
  • Significant - very large or noticeable
  • Handful - a very small number of people or things
  • Ambitious - determined to be successful
  • Outlay - the amount of money that you must spend in order to buy something or to start a new business or project
  • Infant - a baby, or a very young child
  • Sustained - continuing at the same level or rate for a long time
  • Monitoring - to regularly check something or watch someone in order to find out what is happening
  • Requisite - necessary for a particular purpose
  • Vital - very important, necessary, or essential
  • Scaling up - to make something larger in size, amount etc than it used to be
  • Deplorable - extremely bad and shocking
  • Imperative - extremely important and urgent
  • Agenda - a list of aims or possible future achievements
  • Strategic - carefully planned in order to achieve a particular goal

  • Violence - actions or words that are intended to hurt people
  • Misstep - a mistake, especially one caused by bad judgment
  • Distinction - a difference between two similar things
  • Protester - someone who publicly shows their opposition to something such as a law or policy
  • Rally - a public meeting that a lot of people go to in order to support someone or something or to protest against someone or something
  • Unprecedented - never having happened or existed before
  • Turned up - to come somewhere
  • Supremacist - someone who believes their own race is much better than others, and believes they should have power and control
  • Agenda - a plan or aim that is kept secret
  • Reminiscent - similar to something else
  • Confederate - a citizen of the Confederacy, or a soldier in their army
  • Monument - a structure built in a public place to celebrate an important person or event
  • Mobilise - if you mobilize a group of people, or if they mobilize, they come together in order to achieve something
  • Tragic - causing or involving great sadness, because someone suffers or dies
  • Ram - if a vehicle or boat rams something, it hits it very hard, usually when it is moving fast
  • Injuring - to hurt someone and cause damage to their body
  • Campaign - a series of actions intended to produce political or social change
  • Strategist - someone who develops and carries out a plan, especially a business, military, or political plan
  • Embolden - to give someone more confidence to do something
  • Imperial - relating to an empire (=the rule of one country over several other countries)
  • Wizard - someone who is very good at something
  • Fulfilment - the fact of doing something that is necessary or something that someone has wanted or promised to do
  • Instantly - immediately
  • Denouncing - to criticize someone or something severely in public
  • Upholding - to show that you support something such as an idea by what you say or do
  • Enshrine - to officially record something such as an idea or principle in a document so that it cannot be ignored
  • Condemn - to say publicly that you think someone or something is bad or wrong
  • Apparently - based only on what you have heard, not on what you are certain is true
  • Criticise - to say what you think is wrong or bad about something
  • Intolerance - someone’s refusal to accept behaviour, beliefs, or opinions that are different from their own
  • Advisory - for the purpose of giving advice
  • Pardon - to forgive someone for something they have said or done
  • Allegation - a statement that someone has done something wrong or illegal even though this has not been proved
  • Racial - related to someone's race
  • Profiling - the process of collecting and examining information about someone or something in order to get an accurate idea of what they are like
  • Discriminatory - treating a particular group of people unfairly because of their religion, race, or other personal features
  • Endorsement - an occasion when someone gives official or public support to a particular person or thing
