Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "Politics and the police: On reinstating Kerala DGP Senkumar"

  • RULED - pronounce authoritatively and legally to be the case.
  • TENURE - the conditions under which land or buildings are held or occupied
  • ARBITRARY - based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system
  • REGIME - a government, especially an authoritarian one
  • DISPENSATION - exemption from a rule or usual requirement
  • UNFETTERED - not confined or restricted
  • REINSTATING - restore (someone or something) to their former position or state
  • DISCREATION -  the quality of behaving or speaking in such a way as to avoid causing offence or revealing confidential information.
  • WHIM - a sudden desire or change of mind, especially one that is unusual or unexplained
  • IMPORT - bring (goods or services) into a country from abroad for sale.
  • INSULATE - protect (something) by interposing material that prevents the loss of heat or the intrusion of sound.
  • DELINEATED - describe or portray (something) precisely.
  • VAGUE - of uncertain, indefinite, or unclear character or meaning.
  • COGENT - (of an argument or case) clear, logical, and convincing.
  • ADVERSE - preventing success or development; harmful; unfavourable
  • INDICTMENT - a formal charge or accusation of a serious crime.
  • REINSTATE - restore (someone or something) to their former position or state.
  • CONFINED - of a space) restricted in area or volume; cramped

  • ATTRIBUTE - regard something as being caused bY
  • WANING - becoming weaker or less important
  • ALLYING - combine or unite a resource or commodity with (another) for mutual benefit.
  • SLUMP - sit, lean, or fall heavily and limply.
  • SUBSTANTIAL -  of considerable importance, size, or worth.
  • LACKLUSTRE - lacking in vitality, force, or conviction; uninspired or uninspiring
