  • Alliance - an arrangement between two or more people, groups, or countries by which they agree to work together to achieve something
  • By-election - an election in one particular area to choose a new representative in parliament or on a council, or to replace someone who has died or left the job
  • Adept - skillful at doing something
  • Averse - to dislike or not enjoy something
  • Opting for - to make a choice or decision from a range of possibilities
  • Constituency - a division of a country that elects a representative to a parliament
  • Implicit -  not stated directly, but expressed in the way that someone behaves, or understood from what they are saying
  • Contender - someone who competes with other people for a prize or job
  • Backing - support, help
  • Assorted - including various types
  • Minority - a small number of people or things that are part of a larger group but different in some way from most of the group
  • Substantial - large in amount or degree
  • Pact - an agreement between two or more people or organizations in which they promise to do something
  • Undisputed - agreed or accepted by everyone
  • Dominant - more important, powerful, or successful than the other people or things of the same type
  • Tactic - a particular method or plan for achieving something
  • Prong - any of the separate stages of a plan or activity
  • Fragmented - consisting of several separate parts
  • Spectacular - extremely impressive
  • Outreach - the practice of providing help and advice to people in a community before they have to ask for it
  • Decline - to become less or worse
  • Shrinking - to become less or smaller
  • Vote-bank - a large group of voters from a single community who always support a particular party or candidate in elections
  • Consolidate - to make the power, position, or achievements you already have stronger or more effective so that they are likely to continue
  • Pragmatism - a practical way of thinking or dealing with problems that emphasizes results and solutions more than theories

  • Churn - move or cause to move
  • High noon - exactly midday, when the sun is at its highest point in the sky

  • Forecast - a statement about what is likely to happen, based on available information and usually relating to the weather, business, or the economy
  • Monsoon - a period of heavy rain in India and Southeast Asia
  • Preparedness - the state of being ready for something
  • Marginal - very small
  • Enormous - very large in size or quantity
  • Deprived - not having the things that are essential for a comfortable life
  • Distinct - separate and different in a way that is clear

  • Vulnerable - someone who is vulnerable is weak or easy to hurt physically or mentally
  • Advent - the fact of an event happening
  • Oppressive - hot in an unpleasant way, especially because there is no wind

  • Attributable - caused by a particular event, situation, activity, or person
  • Contend - to claim that something is true
  • Implication - a possible effect or result
  • Fatal - causing someone to die
  • Exhaustion - a feeling of being extremely tired and without energy
  • Cramp - sudden severe pain in a tired muscle that becomes very tight
  • Faint - to suddenly become unconscious for a short time, and usually fall to the ground

  • Stakeholder - someone who has an interest in the success of a plan, system, or organization
  • Phenomenon - an event or situation that can be seen to happen or exist
  • Adverse - negative, unpleasant, or harmful
  • Exposure - the state of being put into a situation in which something harmful or dangerous might affect you
  • Scarcity - a situation in which the supply of something is not enough for the people who want it or need it
  • Equatorial - near the equator, or typical of conditions near the equator
  • Mitigation - a reduction in the harmful effects of something
  • Vigorous - full of energy, enthusiasm, or determination
  • Perceive - to understand or think about something in a particular way
  • Intensity - the strength of something
  • Extreme - very great in degree
