International Current Affairs

• Today (10th December) is Human Rights Day.
• This day is observed annually on December 10, to honour the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in the year 1948. 
  
• This year, the celebrations of the Day witnessed the launching of a year-long campaign titled '#standup4humanrights' to mark the upcoming 70th anniversary of the 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights'. 
• Theme of Human Rights Day 2017 : "Let’s stand up for equality, justice and human dignity"
• Ahead of the 25th anniversary of Dialogue Partnership between India and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Delhi is going to host a two-day ASEAN-India Connectivity Summit during 11th and 12th December 2017. 
• Aim of this Summit : To enhance economic and trade relations between India and Southeast Asian nations.
• Theme of this Summit : 'Powering Digital and Physical Linkages for Asia in the 21st Century'.

National Current Affairs

• The government is going to issue Universal ID cards to persons with disabilities which will be valid throughout India, Union minister Krishan Pal Gurjar said. 
• Note : As of now, an identity card issued by a state isn't considered valid in another state. 

Awards & Honors

• President Ram Nath Kovind today awarded the President's Colours to the Submarine arm of the Indian Navy in recognition of its extraordinary service to the nation in the past 50 years.

Banking, Business & Economic Affairs

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched an SMS campaign titled  "Suno RBI Kya Kehta Hai" along with a missed-call helpline to warn people against scams promising prize money from the RBI. 
• "Don't pay fees or charges to get large sums in return. RBI/RBI Governor/Government never sends such email/SMS/call," the central bank said in an SMS. 
• It is also asking public to give a missed call to the helpline number, 8691960000.
• Sri Lanka today formally handed over the Southern Hambantota Port to China on a 99-year lease and received $292 million out of the $1.12-billion deal.
• The port will play a key role in China's One Belt One Road initiative by linking ports and roads between China and Europe.
• According to a recently released report by global brokerage firm Morgan Stanley, India's GDP growth is likely to accelerate from 6.4% this year to 7.5% in 2018, and to 7.7% in 2019. 
• The report further said the government's plan to recapitalise state-owned banks would remove the potential tail risk of the banking system posing a drag on growth.
• India's largest lender State Bank India (SBI) has changed names and IFSC codes of nearly 1,300 of its branches, post its merger with associate banks. 
• A list with the changes has been put up on the bank's website. 
• India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki today became India's sixth most valued firm, crossing India's largest lender SBI.
• Note : Reliance Industries is the country's most valued company with a market value of ₹5.8 trillion, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, ITC and Hindustan Unilever.
