International Current Affairs
- Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni is on a visit to India.
- With this, he has become the first politician at the post to visit the Asian country in a decade.
- His visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral political and economic relations between the two countries.
- Note : Gentiloni and Narendra Modi released commemorative stamp to mark 70 Years of Diplomatic Relationship between India & Italy.
National Current Affairs
- In a first in India, the Andhra Pradesh government is going to make Digital Prescriptions mandatory for the sale of medicines.
- It has developed a system wherein pharmacies can only sell medicines on prescriptions with digital signatures of registered doctors.
- Further, the patients have to use a One Time Password on their mobiles, or Aadhaar, for identity verification.
- India is going to observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas tomorrow on birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
- THE UNION Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is set to move a proposal before the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for taking over the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), currently under the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA).
- BCAS, currently under the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is responsible for laying down standards, policies and measures with regard to security of all commercial flights.
New Appointments
- Senior IPS officer YC Modi, who was part of a Supreme Court-appointed team that probed the 2002 Gujarat riots cases, today took over as NIA chief.
- He has replaced Sharad Kumar, a 1979 batch IPS officer of Haryana Cadre, who completed his tenure.
Sports Current Affairs
- Roger Federer defeated Juan Martin del Potro to win record eighth title in his hometown Basel, which is his seventh title of 2017 and 95th of his career.
- Mercedes' British driver Lewis Hamilton won his fourth Formula One championship at Mexico Grand Prix 2017.
- The Indian junior men's hockey team won Bronze at the 7th Sultan of Johor Cup by defeating hosts Malaysia 4-0 in the third-fourth place classification match today.
- Saudi Arabia will allow women to enter sports stadiums starting 2018, authorities have announced today.
- Women have long been barred from stadiums due to rules on gender segregation in public.
- India's Kidambi Srikanth clinched his second consecutive Superseries title of the year at the French Open, becoming the first-ever Indian shuttler to win four Superseries in a year.
- Note : He had earlier won Indonesia Open, Australian Open and Denmark Open this year.
