Hai Friends I'm Kani. Here I'm sharing English Vocabulary from Editorial section of Today's Hindu News Paper dated 27th September 2017. Happy reading :)

Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "Power problem — On Saubhagya scheme"
  • Long-standing - having existed for a long time
  • Realisation - the process of achieving something that you have planned or hoped for, or the moment when this happens
  • Budgetary - relating to a budget
  • Addressing - to give attention to or deal with a matter or problem
  • Plague - something that is very common and harmful
  • Household - the people who live in a house or flat when they are considered as a single unit
  • Criterion - a standard that is used for judging something or for making a decision about something

  • Paradoxically - used for saying that something is strange because it is the opposite of what you expect
  • Amidst - if something happens amidst particular feelings or events, it happens while people have these feelings or while these events are happening
  • Claim - to say that something is true, even though there is no definite proof
  • Surplus - (an amount that is) more than is needed
  • Vastly - to a very great extent
  • Lignite - a soft dark brown type of coal
  • Consistently - in a way that does not vary
  • In tandem - together and at the same time
  • Deteriorate - to become worse
  • Assurance - a promise
  • Restructure - to organize a company, business, or system in a new way to make it operate more effectively
  • Outcome -  the final result of a process, meeting, activity etc
  • Populism - politics that represents the interests and opinions of ordinary people
  • Incentive - something that makes you want to do something or to work harder, because you know that you will benefit by doing this
  • Evident - easy to see, notice, or understand
  • Crippling - causing severe damage or problems

  • Conservative - not usually liking or trusting change, especially sudden change
  • Consensus - a generally accepted opinion or decision among a group of people
  • Ruffled feathers - to upset or annoy someone
  • Oft - often
  • Dubious - thought not to be completely true or not able to be trusted
  • Rosy - likely to be successful or happy
  • Hardliner - a member of a group, typically a political group, who adheres uncompromisingly to a set of ideas or policies.
  • Pre-emptive - if something is pre-emptive, it is done before other people can act, especially to prevent them from doing something else
  • Accuse - to say that someone has done something morally wrong, illegal, or unkind
  • Backseat driving - giving advice about things that you are not responsible for
  • Colleague - one of a group of people who work together
  • Defend - to protect someone or something against attack or criticism
  • Singing from the same hymn sheet - saying the same things in public about something and appear to agree about it
  • Fragile - used about a situation, agreement, or relationship that can easily be damaged or destroyed
  • Consensus - agreement among all the people involved
  • Negotiation - the process of discussing something with someone in order to reach an agreement with them
  • Insist - to say firmly or demand forcefully, especially when others disagree with or oppose what you say
  • Overdue - not done or happening when expected or when needed; late
  • Obligation - something that you must do
  • Cautious optimism - a feeling that there are some reasons to hope for a good result, even if you do not expect complete success or improvement

  1. hello ma'am u r doing a really great job, i am feeling like lack of words to appreciate this work, but ma'am please tell me how to learn or keep remember these words, because it is taking so much time to learn these words and so please tell how would i reduce the time to learn them also able to give my time to other subjects too....
