Hindu Editorial Topic 1 : "Tax trauma — On GST Network"
  • Trauma - a bad experience that makes you feel very upset, afraid, or shocked
  • Glitch - a small and sudden problem
  • Regime - a system of rules that control something
  • Anxiety - a worried feeling you have because you think something bad might happen
  • Reform - a change that is intended to correct a situation that is wrong or unfair, or make a system work more effectively
  • Overhaul - to completely change a system in order to make it work more effectively
  • Roll-out - to introduce a new product or service
  • Desirable - something that is desirable has qualities that make you want it
  • Backbone - the most important part of something, providing support for everything else
  • Invoice - a document giving details of goods or services that someone has bought and must pay for
  • Reiterate - to repeat something in order to emphasize it or make it very clear to people
  • Appeal - a request for people to do something or to behave in a particular way
  • Impasse - a situation in which progress is impossible
  • Troublesome - causing problems or difficulties, especially in an annoying way
  • Implication - a possible effect or result
  • Stumble - to make a mistake when you are trying to achieve something

  • Levy - to officially request payment of a tax
  • Reckoning - a calculation or measurement
  • Procurement -  the process of buying supplies or equipment for a government department or company
  • In contrast - used when you are comparing two things or people and saying that the second one is very different from the first
  • Transitional - temporary, or in the process of changing from one situation, form, or state to another
  • Trigger -  to make something happen
  • Unease - a feeling of being nervous, uncomfortable, or unhappy about a situation
  • Constitutional - allowed by the constitution of a country or organization
  • Reform - to make an improvement, especially by changing the structure of something
  • Interim - temporary and intended to be used or accepted until something permanent exists
  • Caution - careful thought and lack of hurry in order to try to avoid risks or danger
  • Circumspection - the quality of being careful not to take risks
  • Creditably - good enough to deserve some praise or admiration
  • Forward-looking - looking at the future in a positive way and happy to try new ideas and methods
  • Envision - to have something as a plan or an intention
  • Far-reaching - affecting a lot of people or things in an important way
  • Irreversible - impossible to change or bring back a previous condition or situation
  • Optimism - a tendency to be hopeful and to expect that good things will probably happen
  • Durable - continuing to exist or work for a long time, even if the situation changes
  • Ethnic - relating to a group of people who have the same culture and traditions
  • Prosperity - the situation of being successful and having a lot of money
  • Derail - to prevent something from continuing in the way that it was planned
  • Extremist - someone who has beliefs or opinions that are considered to be extremely unreasonable by most people
  • Sustained - continuing at the same level or rate for a long time
  • Consensus - agreement among all the people involved
  • Framework - a system of rules, laws, agreements etc that establish the way that something operates in business, politics, or society
  • Envisage - to have something as a plan or an intention
  • Province - one of many areas into which some countries are divided
  • Devolution - the process of taking power from a central authority or government and giving it to smaller and more local regions
  • Unitary - controlled by a central government or authority
  • Federal - a federal country or system is one in which individual states make their own laws, but a national government is responsible for areas such as defence and foreign policy
  • Predictably - as expected
  • Dilute -  to make something less strong or effective
  • Abolish - to officially get rid of a law, system, practice etc
  • Subsidiarity - the principle that decisions should be made at the lowest possible level of a government or an organization, rather than always being made at a high level
  • Tier - level
  • First-past-the-post - a first-past-the-post system is one in which only the person or political party that gets the most votes is elected
  • Ramification - a complicated or unexpected way in which a decision, process, or event affects other things
  • Periphery - the less important part of a group or activity
  • Retention - the act of keeping someone / something
  • Pre-eminent - better or more important than anyone or anything else in a particular activity
  • Bipartisan - involving two political parties with different ideas or policies
  • Shackle - something that prevents you from doing what you want to do
  • Divisive - likely to cause arguments between people
  • Reconciliation - a new and friendly relationship with someone who you argued with or fought with

  1. Hi mam.. mam you are doing a wonderful job. It is very helpful for students like me from hindi medium background .. mam I request you to upload monthly pdf file as uploaded in current affairs section. It will be more beneficial by uploading monthly pdf files of these vocabularies ..
