Hai Friends I'm Kani. Here I'm sharing English Vocabulary from Editorial section of Today's Hindu News Paper dated 19th September 2017. Happy reading :)

  • Partisan - strongly supporting a person, principle, or political party, often without considering or judging the matter very carefully
  • Disqualification - a situation in which someone is not allowed to take part in something because they have committed an offence or have done something that is not allowed by the rules
  • Dissident - someone who disagrees publicly with a government, especially in a country where this is not allowed
  • Questionable - not certain, or wrong in some way
  • Majority - the larger number or part of something
  • Rebellion - an attempt to remove a government or leader by force
  • Minority - a smaller number or part
  • Indefensible - impossible to defend from criticism
  • Reluctance - unwillingness to do something
  • Floor test - a floor test is done to prove some type of majority (usually by head count) on the floor of the Parliament
  • Thereby -because of, or by means of, what has just been mentioned
  • Threshold - a limit at which an arrangement changes
  • Loyalist - someone who supports their government, especially during a revolution
  • Faction - a small group within a larger group, consisting of people with different opinions from the rest
  • Dispensation - official permission to do something that people are not normally allowed to do
  • Interprete - to translate what someone is saying in one language into another language so that someone else can understand it
  • Memorandum - a short written statement containing information about a particular subject, passed between officials in a government or organization
  • Voluntarily - of one's own free will
  • Precisely - clearly
  • Apprehension - a feeling of worry or fear that something bad might happen
  • Regime - a system or form of government
  • Despite - used for saying that something happens even though something else might have prevented it
  • Apparent - easy to see or understand
  • Whip - an official order to members of a political party to go to a particular debate and vote
  • Disobey - to deliberately do the opposite of what someone in authority has told you to do, or deliberately not obey a rule
  • Condone - to approve of behaviour that most people think is wrong
  • Breach - a failure to follow a law or rule
  • Circumstance - a fact or condition that affects a situation
  • Quash - to use force or violence to stop the political action taken by a group of people
  • Decline - to say politely that you will not accept something or do something
  • Intervene - to become involved in a situation in order to try to stop or change it
  • Hobnob - to spend time being friendly with someone who is important or famous
  • Rebel - someone who tries to remove a government or leader using force
  • Morality - a set of personal or social standards for good or bad behaviour and character
  • Survive -  to continue to exist, especially in a difficult or dangerous situation
  • Truncate - made briefer or shorter
  • Legitimacy - the quality of being legal
  • Reconciliation - a new and friendly relationship with someone who you argued with or fought with
  • Overture - a suggestion or offer that you make to someone
  • Reviving - to become, or to make something become, active, successful, or popular again
  • Dissolve - if a group or organization dissolves, or if someone dissolves it, it stops existing
  • Common ground - something that people can agree about, especially when they disagree about other things
  • Rival - a person, team, or business that competes with another
  • Rapprochement - the development of greater understanding and friendship between two countries or groups after they have been unfriendly
  • Humanitarian - relating to efforts to help people who are living in very bad conditions and are suffering because of a war, flood, earthquake etc
  • Crisis - an urgent, difficult, or dangerous situation
  • Blockade - to prevent people or goods from moving from one place to another
  • Mount - to prepare for and begin an activity or event
  • Resistance - the ability not to be affected or harmed by something
  • Sticky - difficult or dangerous
  • Bury the hatchet - to become friendly with someone again after a disagreement
  • Contentious - causing disagreement between people or groups
  • Despite - used for saying that something happens even though something else might have prevented it
  • Moderation -  opinions and actions, especially in politics, that are reasonable and not extreme
  • Gradual - gradual processes and changes happen slowly and by small amounts
  • Ally - a country that makes an agreement with another country that they will work together to help each other, especially in a war
  • Impediment - something that makes it more difficult for someone to do something or more difficult for something to happen
  • Stakeholder - someone who has an interest in the success of a plan, system, or organization
  • Vis-à-vis - compared to or relating to someone or something
