• India has been ranked third for the third year in a row in a doping violation report published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for 2015, with 117 athletes from the country being punished after testing positive for banned substances. 
• India followed the Russian Federation (176) and Italy (129) in the chart, the same posi-tion as in the reports of 2013 and 2014. This is the first set of Anti-Doping Rule Violation statistics under the revised WADA Code and third such report in its history since 2013. The worrying sign for India is that the number of dope offenders has been increasing in the last three years. India had 91 and 96 Anti-doping Rule VidatiOnS (ADRVs) in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
• National Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand's daughter Gayatri Pulleln has bagged both the singles and doubles crown at the Penthangunan Jaya Raya Junior Grand Prix in Jakarta. Gayatri roamed up with Samiya to clinch the 'U-I5 doubles title', with a straight game 21-17, 21-15 win over Indonesian pair of Kelly Larissa and Shelandry Vyola. 
• Gayatri and Samiya train together at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad.
• Brayan Jimenez, Guatemala 'former football chief has been banned for life over corrup-tion, bribery and other offences, making him the latest former executive thrown out of the sport in disgrace.
• Jimenez last year pleaded guilty to racketeering and wire fraud conspiracies in a US court after accepting bribes worth several hundred thousand dollars in exchange for media and marketing rights for key matches.
• FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) banned Guatemala's former football chief Brayan Jimenez for life over corruption, bribery and other offences. 
• Jimenez was banned for Re from all football-related activities at national and international level.
• The National Hockey League (NHL) will not take part in the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics'. The NHL had participated in every Winter Olympics since the 1998 Nagano Winter Games. 
• The decision will impact almost every major hockey-playing nation with the Sweden, Finland, Russia, United States and Canadian teams almost entirely made up of NHL players. 
• The Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel has approved the appointment of two foreign coaches and two support staff for athletics. Dave Smith, Galina P. Bukharina, Dmitry Kislev and Elmira Kisleva have been made upto 2020 Olympics. 
• Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has been granted the affiliation by Indian Olympic Association is subject to ratification by the Executive Council/ General Body of the IOA (Indian Olympic Association). With this move, BFI has now become a fully recognised body for Boxing in India. It already has affiliation from AIBA and Sports Ministry. 
• Haryana has won the team championship (with overall 166.5 points) at the 'National Youth Athletics Meet' at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad. Kerala has finished as runners-up managing 134.75 points. Kerala retained the team crown for girls with 100 points, while Haryana boys topped with 5 points. Javelin throw player Damneet Singh (Punjab) has been declared the best Athlete in boy category while in girls Apama Roy of who win 100 m hurdles race awarded as the best. 
• India finished with three gold, two silver and 11 bronze medals at the US Open Karate Championship held in Las Vegas. Shaifali Agarwal (gold medal) and Abhishek Sengupta (silver medal) have won in two dif-ferent individual events. India also won a gold medal in the team event. The other members of the Indian contingent were Abhishek Sengupta, Rantej Singh, Harcharan Singh Chowhan and Shaffali Agarwal. 
• India and Australia launched Sports partner-ship in Mumbai aimed at increasing cooperation in sports. The sports partnership will advance India, Australia cooperation in four areas - athlete and coach training and development, sport science, sport governance and integrity, and grassroots participation. 
• The Indian School team beat Malaysia (defending champion) 5.1 to lift the title at the fifth Asian School Hockey Championship at the Aishbagh Stadium, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). 
• Earlier, India has defeated China 11.0 in the semi-final, while Malaysia defeated Singapore by 12.1. China, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, UAE, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India has played in two pools.

• Kenya's Joyciline Jepkosgei has broken the world half marathon record as well as the 10 km and 15 km marks at the Prague Half Marathon on the way to winning the IAAF Gold Label Road Race in one hour, four min-utes and 52 seconds.
• Roger Federer (Switzerland) defeated Rafael Nadal (Spain) to win Miami Open 2017 Singles ride. Jr was Federer's 26th ATP Masters 1000 title, only Novak Djokovic with 30 and Rafael Nadal with 28 have won mom titles than Federee 
• Miami Open 2017 was held in Florida, USA. A fourth straight win over Nadal was his longest winning streak in their 13-year professional rivalry which makes Federer the oldest 'rimer of the Miami Open.
• Gary Kirsten from South Africa appointed as the in-charge of the Hobart Hurricanes club for the next two Australian Big Bash League seasons as announced on 3rd April, 2017.
• Kirsten played 101 Tests and 185 one-day internationals for South Africa before coach-ing India to the 2011 World Cup. He cur-rently runs his own cricket academy in South Africa.
• Vikram Malhotra won the North of Scotland Open squash by overcoming Mahesh Mangaonkar in a PSA World tour event held on 2nd April, 2017.
• The Rio Olympic silver-medallist Indian shut-tler P.V. Sindhu (21-year) has defeated top seed Carolina Marin (Spain) in straight sets 21-19, 21-16 at the India Open badminton championship 2017 at the Sin Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi. O Pusarla Venkata Sindhu has become the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal at the 2018 Summer Olympics. 
• P.V. Sindhu, has also jumped three places to achieve wodd number two ranking (career-best) in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) ranking. She has become only the second Indian woman after Saina Nehwal to break into the top-five of the world rankings by earning 75759 points. 
• Saina Nehwal to be at a ninth position in the ranking table with 64279 points. The women's singles chart is led by Tai Tzu Ving (Chinese Taipei) with 87911 points. Sindhu bagged the India Open title after defeating Carolina Marin (Spain) in the summit clash. 
• Indian professional tennis player Leander Paes & Canadian Adil Shamasdin has won the first title of the season Leon Challenger Tour tennis tournament's men's doubles tro-phy after a straight-set win in Mexico, defeat-ing Luca Margaroli (Switzerland) and Caro Zampieri (Brazil) 6-1, 6-4 in the title clash. 
• Leander Adrian Pees is considered to be one of the best doubles and mixed doubles players of all time, having achieved a career Grand Slam in each disdptine. With this win, Paes clinched his 20th ATP Challenger title. 
• Virat Kohli, Indian captain has been named as wisden's Leading Cricketer In the World for 2016. He had the highest average in all three formats last year. Kohli becomes the third Indian to be bestowed with the honour, with Virender Sehwag (2008 and 2009) and Sachin Tendulkar (2010). 
• The Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World was established in 2004 to select the best cricketer based upon their performances anywhere in the world in the previous cal-endar year. 
• Lewis Hamilton grabs the top spot in Chinese Grand Prix 2017 with his first win of the year. Ferrari driver, Sebastian Vettel stood second in the race, with Max Verstappen grabbing the third spot. The Formula One Chinese Grand Prix 2017 took place in Beijing, China. 
• B. Sai Praneeth, Indian badminton player clinched Men's Singles 2017 Singapore Open Super Series beating, Kidambi Srikanth (the world No 29) 17-21, 21-17, 21-12 in the 2017 Singapore Open Badminton tournament. T.V. Tai has won the Women's Singles title beating Carolina Marin in straight sets 21-15, 21-15 in the Singapore Open Badminton tournament.
• Sai Praneeth Bhamidipati is an Indian bad-minton player hailing from Hyderabad, Telangana. He is the winner of the 2018 Canada Open Grand Prix Men's Singles title. 
• Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel has won the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix, beating his Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton came in sec-ond alter picking up a time penalty for driving slowly on pit entry and holding up Red Hugh Daniel Ricciardo, Vatted Bottas finished third in the race. 
• The 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race that took place at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, Bahrain. 
• The ace cueist, Pankaj Advani (31-years) has won his sixth Asian Billiards title and seventh overall Asian championship. He defeated compatriot Sourav Kothari 6-3 to clinch the Asian Billiards Championship title in Chandigarh. 
• It is Pankaj Advani's seventh Asian title.
• Pakistani legendary cricketer 'Younis Khan' (39-year) has become the first Pakistan play-er and 13th ever batsmen to complete 10,000 Test runs. Now, he became the oldest and sixth fastest batsmen to reach 10,000 runs milestone with respect to innings played. Khan is the first and only Test cricketer to score a century in all 11 countries that have hosted Test Matches. He led Pakistan to their victory in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20. 
• Indian shot putter Manpreet Kaur (26-year) has clinched gold in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix Athletics Meet in Jinhua, China, Manpreet came up with the best throw of 18.86 metre and Bian Song (China) finished second with 17.96 m. She also qualified for the IAAF World Championships to be held in August in London. 
• India ended the event with seven medals (1 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze). Neeraj Chopra (men's javelin), Tintu Luka (women's 800 m), Neena Varakil (women's long jump) and Jinson Johnson (men's 800 m) won a silver each. Dutee Chand (women's 100 m) and Om Pra.kash Karhana (men's shot put) bagged a bronze each. 
• Subrata Paul (30-year), the Arjuna Awardee India's top goalkeeper has been provisionally suspended after failing a dope test. Now, Paul will go for the 'B' sample test and claimed that he will prove his innocence. Paul played a major role In India winning the Nehru Cup international tournament in 2007 and 2009.

• The Indian squad, comprising Archana Kamath, Moumita Della and Priyank Pareeldt scored a 3-2 win over a mixed team of players from USA, Croatia and England, to win the girls' team gold event at the ITTF Belgium Open (junior) table tennis tournament held in April, 2017.
