Today's topic - What changes should be made in Indian Education System ?

Education is not the amount of information that we put into your brain and runs riot there, undigested, all your life. We must have life building, man making, character making assimilation of ideas.
- Swami Vivekananda
Every established system in the country always attracts severe criticism. The Indian Education system especially has been the target of many allegations from students, parents and teachers. Students think they are overburdened, teachers think they are not paid enough and parents want their children to get 99.99 percentage. Also, the present scheme of education and training has failed in introducing dynamic and responsible citizens for the nation. It has been a neglected area for a pretty long time.

A solid foundation of a well-established education system, is fundamental in the furtherance of a developing nation like India. To be able to walk hand-in-hand with the West, we have to bring about several warrantable changes at the rudimentary level.

At present the quality of education is such, that it hardly makes majority of students either intellectually competent or motivated to do innovative and constructive work in responsible manner. It only encourages students to concentrate all their attention to get white collard jobs. That tendency has resulted in over crowding the institutions of education and training. The stress on quantitative increase has subverted all the attempts to improve the quality of teaching and learning. It has led to continuous fall in the standard of education.

So what's your take on this issue ? What are the changes you believe should be implemented in the present education system ? Please share your views.
