International Current Affairs
  • British Prime Minister Theresa May is on a 3 day visit to India.
    • She held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi
  • The UK today announced the first-ever visa regime for Indian businessmen that will come with swifter passage through airports and access to the European Union. 
    • Under the 'Registered Traveller Scheme', Indians who frequently visit the UK will have to fill fewer forms and would get access to the European Economic Area passport control.

National Current Affairs
  • Today (7th November) is National Cancer Awareness Day.
    • This day is observed across the country to spread awareness about the disease.
    • There were 2.9 million cases of cancer in the country with 1.1 million new cases being reported annually. 
    • This day was announced by then Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on 7th November 2014.
    • Important Note : World Cancer Day is observed on 4th February every year.
  • 128th Anniversary of Nobel laureate Bharat Ratna Sir CVRaman to celebrate today.
  • Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated two-day 11th Annual Convention of Central Information Commission (CIC).
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 12th edition of International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition “Petrotech-2016” in New Delhi on 5 December 2016. 
    • 6000 delegates from about 75 countries are expected to attend the mega event. 
    • The 2016 theme is : “Hydrocarbons to fuel the future – Choices and Challenges
 MOUs & Agreements
  • Visiting Prime Minister of UK, Theresa May and Indian Prime Minister Modi have today signed Two agreements. They are,
    • Ease of doing business
    • Intellectual property rights
  • India and Sri Lanka have signed an agreement under which a hotline will be set up between officials of the two countries to address the fishermen crisis
    • It also set up procedures to return arrested fishermen and have a minister-level meeting every few months on the issue. 
    • This comes a day ahead of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena's India visit.
  • The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has signed a MoU with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to establish a Joint Advanced Technology Centre (JATC). 
    • The JATC will be located in the campus of IIT Delhi at the upcoming Science and Technology Park (Mini-Science Park ‘MSP’).

New Appointments
  • Indian lawyer, Aniruddha Rajput has been elected as a Member International Law Commission (ILC), a top body of legal experts of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). 
    • Rajput is among the 34 individuals elected by the UNGA as members of the ILC. 
    • He is India’s first time candidate to the Commission and youngest among the group. 
    • He is also the first Indian nominee chosen from outside the close circuit of lawyers of the Union Ministry of External Affairs.

Awards & Honors
  • Singer Justin Bieber won three awards including 'Best Song' for his track 'Sorry' at the 2016 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs)
  • While Lady Gaga won the 'Best Female' award, Shawn Mendes won in the 'Best Male' category. 
  • Further, Drake was the winner in the Best Hip Hop category and 'Coldplay' won the EMA for 'Best Rock'.


Sports Current Affairs
  • The new world number one Andy Murray won his first Paris Masters title and 14th overall ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title after he defeated American player John Isner in the final today. 
    • With this win, Murray also claimed his eighth title of the season.
    •  He was officially be confirmed as Britain's first singles world number one.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, keeping him at the Spanish club until 2021. 
    • Note : Last month Gareth Bale became Real’s best-paid player with a £150 million six-year deal.
  • Indian chess Grandmaster P Harikrishna entered the World Chess Federation's top 10 rankings as per the latest rating list. 
    • The 30-year-old, ranked 10th with 2768 points, joins Viswanathan Anand who is on the seventh position with 2,779 points. 
    • Note : It is the first time in Indian chess history that two players feature in the world's top 10 rankings.
