American singer and songwriter Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for the year 2016. He was honored with this award for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition” announced the Swedish Academy.

The 75-year-old singer has been enthralling audiences with his poignant and provoking songs over the years. Some of his all-time popular numbers include 'Tambourine Man', 'The Times are a-changin'.

With this award to Dylan, the Nobel prizes for the year come to a close.

Note : Last year’s Nobel Prize in Literature 2015 went to Svetlana Alexievich of Belarus “for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time”. Ms. Alexievich is the 14th women Literature Laureate.
