  • Bracing - making you feel that you have more energy
  • Unpredictable - changing often, in a way that is impossible to prepare for
  • Tempestuous - full of strong emotion
  • Threaten - warn
  • Come to a head - if something comes to a head, a situation reaches a point where something must be done about it

  • Asset - something valuable belonging to a person or organization that can be used for the payment of debts
  • Allegedly - if someone allegedly does something, another person says that they have done it, even though this has not been proved
  • Petitioner - a person who is asking for action from a law court
  • Strictures - a statement of serious criticism or disapproval
  • Disclosure - the act of making something known
  • Mourning - to feel or express great sadness, especially because of someone's death
  • Cadet - a student in the armed forces or the police
  • Massive - very large or heavy
  • Refute - to say that a statement is not true or accurate without giving proof
  • Ruled out something - to  prevent something from happening
  • Strained - if a relationship is strained, problems are spoiling it
  • Rift - a serious disagreement that separates two people who have been friends and stops their friendship continuing
  • Surgical strike - a military attack, especially by air, that is designed to destroy something specific and to avoid wider damage
  • Retaliation - to hurt someone or do something harmful to someone because they have done or said something harmful to you
  • Crossfire - bullets fired towards you from different directions
  • Escalating - to become much worse or more serious
  • Diplomatic - acting in a way that does not cause offence
  • Stand-off - a situation in which agreement in an argument does not seem possible
  • Mend - to repair something that is broken or damaged
  • Encroached - to gradually take something such as power or authority from someone else
  • Rendered - to make someone or something be or become something
  • Vulnerable - able to be easily physically, emotionally, or mentally hurt, influenced, or attacked
  • Storm - a very angry reaction from a lot of people
  • Isolating - to keep a person separate from others
  • Viable - able to be done, or worth doing

  • Glaring - used to say that something bad is very obvious
  • Conflict - an active disagreement between people with opposing opinions or principles
  • Zealous - full of great energy, effort, and enthusiasm
  • Addressing - trying to deal with a problem
  • Perhaps - used for saying that you are not sure about something, or that something may or may not be true
  • On the other hand - in a way that is different from the first thing you mentioned
  • Temper - to make something less strong, extreme, etc
  • Zeal - great energy, effort, and enthusiasm
  • Assessment - the process of making a judgment or forming an opinion, after considering something or someone carefully
